When you say your baby is 3 months, do you go by the calendar months or use 12 weeks?

I always go by the weeks, but I guess that is less accurate.

12 weeks - I go by weeks when I think of it.. usually I'm terrible at figuring out what week she's at now...

like today - I have NO clue... let me count back to April....

btw, I think they go by weeks when looking at baby milestones - but hey... my LO is all over the map so don't put much stock in what the internet says (sometimes)

I go by the calendar month. It's how her doctor's office schedules her checkups. I know that every month on the 30th, she'll be a month older.

Besides, counting by the month keeps her "younger".

If I count by the week, she'll be 4 months old (16 weeks) this Friday! But if I count by the calendar month, she'll be 4 months old two weeks from today (on the 30th).

I'm not ready for her to be 4 months old yet Time flies WAAAAY too fast!

I use both, kinda. If someone asks how old he is, I normally go by months but I know every Sunday he's a week older.

She will be 13 weeks on Thursday and 3 months then too. I go by months now but only count the next month when the 19th hits!

I am the utmost personification of a math geek. I despise the Gregorian calendar for so many reasons - and this is one of them. Don't get me started on the United States' refusal to use the metric system!

I consider 13 weeks to be three months. Because (excluding leap years)...

365 days / 7 days to a week = 52.14 weeks
52.14 weeks / 12 months = 4.35 weeks to a month
4.35 weeks * 3 months = 13.05 weeks

For all practical purposes - like, when people ask how old she is - I usually just use the number of the day of her birth as the milestone or marker so that the xxth of every month adds another month to her age. Or if I'm crabby, I give them the number of days since her birth.

This has bugged me with every one of my kids! I've decided this time to use the month versus number of weeks. Since after all that is what the dr uses and it makes things easier.
