I thought I'd share a link for the Nose Frida!! This product is so cool and really gets all the snot out of baby. The little nose suckers get some out, but this does the job. It looks gross at first, because you are sucking air through a tube to pull the snot out, but there is a sponge filter and a long tube, so it will never get into your mouth.

I thought this was SO GROSS and strange when I heard about it and saw it for the first time.
But while I was working at daycare last year I saw a mom use it on her sick, mucusy baby and it got EVERYTHING out. Plus, baby didn't get bothered by it! Works way better than a snot sucker suction bulb IMO! I want one this time!

You just do it when baby is congested and needs it, not on a regular basis

As good as it may work, there is NO WAY I could do it. I have a hard time with mucus/snot. Just the thought makes me nauseous. I have only cleaned our kids noses with the sucker thing when I HAD to, that has always been dh's job if he's home. I tell you it has taken every ounce of self control to be able to handle the occassional sputum cultures at work. And I've had a couple patients that had trachs that I had to suction... Thankfully, I can be strong when I need it but its still hard.

I'm right there with you. The thought of it makes me really queasy. I'm just not particularly good with snot. I do have an electric sucker that works pretty good. Probably a similar concept, I'm just not the one supplying the sucking action.

A mom at work uses it on her son. To be honest, the sound and seeing the snot go through the tubing makes me want to barf. It does seem to work really well. I would only use it if it was my only option.

LOL Tammy! All the trachs come to my floor cause we are a step-down from the Neuro/Trauma ICU. The only time patient care made me barf was during my first pregnancy. I was taking care of a trach'd pt who was blowing large snot bubbles out his trach. The sound of suctioning that much snot was too much! I ran from the room and just made it to the toilet in time. All my coworkers thought it was hilarious. My unit's name is TRACU, pronouncedd "track you". Soooooo funny when visitors pronounce it "trach you"!!! LOL

I think it's weird and if you think about it too much it's really gross! BUT, I think I'll get one. Not too much skeeves me out when it comes to my kids at this point and I hate the bulb syringes and babies hate them even worse.
