Who else is excited for the Olympics? I love to watch them, both the summer and winter games. I can't wait for the opening ceremonies tonight.

My favorite sports to watch in the summer games are gymnastics, swimming, diving, and volleyball.

Same here! I love to just watch the Olympics all day every day for the two weeks they are on. It's weird how just being the Olympics makes me watch sports I never usually watch!

I have been geeking out and counting down since the beginning of June. DH laughs at me because I clap my hands every time I hear the Olympic theme on television and tell him how many days until the Olympics.

I LOVE the Olympics. I LOVE that it brings all these countries together in unity. I LOVE cheering on my country in their athletic endeavors. I am moved to tears when I see a gold medalist stand on that podium, watch his/her country's flag being raised, and show his/her absolute pride and joy over earning that medal. Don't even get me started on the Opening Ceremonies.

I think I have a love for it because ever since I was little, my mother would get excited about both the Summer and Winter Olympics. It was always a cause for celebration in our house. Although, she would root for Japan, her native country, and I would root for U.S.A. I am eternally grateful for her sharing that with me and exposing me to sports I would have never watched otherwise (curling, hello?).

I'm more of a winter Olympic fan (I'll be glued to the tv in 2 years), but I will probably tune in for the diving and the gymnastics.

I'm glue to the TV for both! I also grew up watching the Olympics. Man were they busy times when both the summer and winter games were the same year! I'm glad they've spread them out a bit more now. I always get disappointed when I have to work and miss events, so I'm excited that I'm not working and will be able to watch everything I want to!

I should look up the schedule of events. I know they've started soccer already, but that's one sport I don't watch. That's pretty bad they messed up the North Korean flag by putting the South Korean flag instead!

What do you think of the mascots? I've seen news reporters saying they scare little kids more so than mascots in past years and I can understand why!

Winter Olympics are my favorite, but I still love the Summer ones! I've been so excited for the opening ceremonies tonight!

I've always wanted to visit London... could you imagine being there this year, between the wedding, the Queen's Jubilee, and now the Olympics!?!

And yeah, Robyn, that was a pretty bad "oopsie", to mess up the Korean flags! Yikes!!

I am SO excited for 7:30pm to get here tonight! I wasn't able to watch the 2008 Olympics at all because I was working at a summer camp So for the next 2 weeks, I'll be glued to my tv! I fully expect to gain about 20lbs because I'll just eat and refuse to walk in fear of missing something! Haha!

I'm all about the gymnastics, swimming and diving. I'll probably find a couple more sports to watch this time around.

Oh my gosh I'm so so so so so so so EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!

Always loved the gymnastics, and of course I'm a junkie for anything equine! Working for an Olympic-contender this year in 3 day eventing, I met some pretty awesome people...above all, Boyd Martin. One of Boyd's horses in the Olympics is Neville Bardos. He survived a fire last year that killed many horses, and now he's there...it's amazing. Boyd himself is a great person, and did I mention that he was listed as the 11th sexiest olympic athlete??

You didn't miss too much. I LOVE the Olympics but I found this opening ceremony to lack excitement.

I thought the opening ceremony was very dissappointing! I kept falling asleep and DH kept having to wake me up! I think Mr. Bean was the highlight!

I knew there was no way they could compete with the pageantry of Beijing, but I still thought it was good. It just had that understated feel that I associate with the English people.

I was surprised they didn't make use of more celebrities (I guess I'm comparing it to Vancouver where I think every Canadian celebrity possible made an appearance!) although the James Bond bit was hilarious, and being a Harry Potter fan, I did a little cheer when JK Rowling showed up.

I managed to stay up until Sir Paul took the stage, then I called it a night!

I agree, it was kind of boring, but they said from the beginning that they were going for more of a cinematic storytelling opening ceremony. I thought the Frankie and June segment with the texts was too drawn out, too.

I'm disappointed that NBC cut out part of the ceremony for the interview with Michael Phelps: NBC Hit For Editing Opening Ceremony Segment Seen As 'Victims Tribute' Like the article says, there is plenty of time for interviews at other points in time. I also have quite a few friends from the UK on my Facebook, so had to avoid Facebook until midnight since they were all posting about the opening ceremony. Seems like the US is the only country that had to wait.

I loved the entrance for the queen! I also loved the children's storybook segment.

Here's the segment NBC didn't show: Here's The Opening Ceremony Tribute To Terrorism Victims NBC Doesn't Want You To See
