So I just took a new job...weird time to start but so excited.
Anyway, I have a ton of money in my flex that I have to use by Aug 31st. I am going to the dentist tomorrow and they are going to do work on a crown I have needed but was putting off until after pregnancy is over (no pain at all, more preventitive).
I talked to my nurse and dentist and they both feel it is okay, but I am nervous. Anyone else had anything more than a cleaning while pregnant? I don't have to get xrays as I got them last Valentines day.
Thanks!

I had a crown done at the beginning of this pregnancy and had no problems with it. They just used a mild pain shot that both my OB and the dentist said would be fine while pregnant.

regular dental work should be safe, just be prepared to bleed a little more than usual.

Oh, didn't think about the bleeding. Thanks for the heads up! Is the gas a no-no then? I like the gas!

In Great Britain laughing gas is commonly given during labor, so I'm guessing it's probably safe for dental work, but ask your doc just to be sure!

Oh honey, I just went in last wednesday for a root canal! My dentist really feels comfortable doing dental work in the 2nd trimester only. It feels it's safest at this point so get your tooshy in there! They used a double sheild over my abdomen when they did the x-rays of my mouth. Super heavy but still comfortable. They'll give you pain meds, if required, that are safe for the pregnancy.
Dental work helps keep you baby healthy as well. I was growing an infection and didn't even know it! Not until they opened the tooth Just go with an easy mind

I have to get a letter from my ob to even go to the denist. I really need to have my crown fixed. However my reg ob was out last week and they wanted to wait til he was in to give me the letter.
