I absent mindedly ate raw cookie dough yesterday morning, didn't even think about it. Later on I wasn't feeling good and called my OB who told me to go to L&D because she was afraid I might have Pre-e. Thankfully that came back negative, but on the way home I suddenly got serious stomach cramps and severe rumbling in my guts... TMI, sorry. Not much better today, though the pain is less. Could this be salmonella? I only just thought of the cookie dough as a possible cause

I eat it all the time.

I wouldn't stress about it too much. If you have any extreme vomiting or diarrhea, you might want to call L&D. Otherwise, I'm sure you're fine.

i didn't even know you couldn't eat cookie dough guess it a good thing i don't actually like it.

I would Call your doctor back and tell her your thoughts. To me it sounds like a normal upset tummy or maybe coming down with a little something. but its always best to be safe.

I am having rather extreme diarrhea, and am sweating real bad even tho it's not very hot in here. I don't have a fever, my temp is 97.8 right now. But I definitely am not feeling so good which is why I'm kinda worried

I ate some the other week without thinking, and I was ok. Since you're having extreme diarrhea, I suppose its possible. I thought it took about 12-24 hours to actually set in though. I'd just watch your symptoms and up your fluid intake. The diarrhea could be not related to the cookie dough at all.

If you're still having a lot of diarrhea tomorrow/today, I'd call your OB and see if she wants you to get fluids. Being dehydrated is no fun Feel better!!!

P.S. I forgot to add! Was it pre-made batter? Or batter you whipped up yourself? If its pre-made then you should be totally ok! The eggs in the store bought, pre-made stuff are pasturized. So its relatively safe.

I made it myself. I've never had a problem before, but there's always a very small chance. I was just woken up to real bad shoulder and abdominal pain. This is really sucking and I just don't know if it's something to call my doctor on or if I should just wait it out... I always overthink things...

Hmm..... I'm understanding a little more why your doctor was concerned with pre-e. Shoulder and abdominal pain are both signs. Mine sent me to L&D for abdominal pain earlier this week thinking it could be pre-e, but it wasn't.

If it gets worse, call L&D and see what they think. Its always better to be safe than sorry! Hows your LO? Still active?

If you had salmonella, you'd probably be in really bad shape right now. Vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, fever, chills, abdominal pain, etc. You would still feel like that this morning and probably be living on the toilet. Your chances of getting it from eating some cookie dough with store bought eggs is probably low, but if you are having any of the above symptoms, I would call your doctor just to be safe. I had food poisoning early on with Akadia and thought I was going to die. Couldn't keep anything down for a few days. Everything turned out fine though. Hope you are feeling better!

Still feeling bad, but the baby seems to be fine. He's rather violent, which doesn't make me feel much better, lol. He still has a good strong heartbeat, resting around 140. It's been about 32 hours since the diarrhea started, so I'll probably call my doctor just to see what she'd want to do about it, if she thinks it's something to come in for or just wait it out.

I hope you feel better soon. I also think it's probably just a coincidence in timing, but it's never wrong to err on the safe side by getting seen,

How ya feeling? Any better????

Apparently there IS some kind of bug going around. Lots of abdominal pain and diarrhea. I'm the third person in this house to catch is... so much fun... I guess it went around my moms work, and she brought it home for us. I will say that while I don't really like the bowel cramping, its a nice change of pace from the horrid constipation LOL!

Went to L&D yesterday and they said it's most likely gastroenteritis, which could possibly have been caused by the cookie dough, but doubtful. Either way, I just have to ride it out. I'm feeling a little better and I haven't gotten dehydrated, thankfully! The baby is doing great and is perfect, so even though my body can't deal with itself very well, it can at least take care of babies.
