I came across this on pinterest and thought it was kind of funny: Happily After Giving Birth

What is something that no one told you about pregnancy, labor or after labor?

I don't know if this is typical but I lost all sensation of having a full bladder for probably around a month after birth. I seriously couldn't feel if my bladder was full or not, it was the weirdest thing! Also I had a hard time going a few days to a week after birth. Thankfully I don't have any incontinence issues though.

No one told me that my girl parts would be so swollen up that it felt like I had a set of balls for the first day or two postpartum. That was fun lol.

Ditto to MissusF's comment, and no one prepared me for the possible pain AFTER giving birth. All you hear is 'the second you see your baby all the pain goes away' which is true, but no one explained how much probing and prodding goes on afterwards.... and if you tear/rupture an artery and the midwife has trouble finding it.... OY VEY OY!!.. which litterally means OUCH!

Also no one said that it would be weird breathing for a bit until my ribs re-adjusted to no-baby-me.

I was told everything before hand, but the thing that happened to me that no one warned me about were chills. Like three fleece blankets in a Louisiana "Winter" is still cold, chills. I read somewhere that it wasn't as common as the hot flashes. Happened with both of my children. So hard to sleep when you are freezing cold. Poor babies were probably so hot because since I was cold, I bundled them up a lot, too. lol

Another was that I might develop PTSD. For the first year after the birth of DD1, I'd have anxiety or panic attacks just thinking about a hospital. Took over 3 years for the feeling to go completely away.

Arwen- I have anxiety in the hospital now too.

No one told me that I wouldnt be able to feel my bladder and that if I went too long without peeing id just start going without being able to stop it. No one told me about how disgusting the bleeding would smell. No one told me that my upper half would feel like it was unattached to my body for about 3 weeks after. No one told me I would pass out randomly for about 2 weeks after.

Yeah. I had a rough recovery. Lol

No one told me that there's this thing called infant Acid reflux and that I wouldn't be able to lay him on his back for 2 months. Yeah it's pretty hard to do anything when you can't lay him down at all even to change his diaper.

Ummmm I felt I expected everything else
