What exactly should you register for? Do you register for everything you need/want or just specific things? Is there anything you specifically shouldn't register for?

I don't know if there is a no no list but the main things I make sure are on there are things like diapers/wipes, blankets, bottles if your going to use them, bathtub, and then I put a few of the big things I want(bouncer, swing, carseat, ect). Some people like to go in together on something big. But anything you want/need should be in there. I wouldn't do clothes as most people will buy what they think is cute.

I think you should register for anything and everything you need/want. I did some searching online and found some suggested lists and went by that. They also have some idea lists on the sites I registered at. I would have a good selection of each price range, to give people lots of selection. Have fun!

See, I registered at Walmart for everything I *thought* I needed, the only things I didn't actually put on the registry was diapers & wipes. I figured people would buy them anyway, like clothes. I read on a few different websites to NOT put diapers on the registry, because then EVERYONE would just buy diapers & you wouldn't get anything else.

Well, yesterday, Mike's mom told me that her sister & her daughter were looking at the registry & called her saying "who took Crystal out to register? Cuz she doesn't have everything she needs on that registry!" Because I didn't put diapers, wipes, or a Boppy pillow on the registry. I didn't put diapers, for the reason stated above, and I didn't put a Boppy because I'm not breast feeding & I thought that's what they're for, so I figured I didn't need one. Now Mike's mom wants to do another registry at BRU (even tho I chose Walmart so people wouldn't have to spend a crapload of $ at BRU) so now I will have 2 registries.

Go crazy! People buy you things that aren't on your registry but there's no improper way to do it! Just don't register for non-baby things OBVIOUSLY. Lol.

I registered for the usual. Bottles, binki's, crib sheets, blankets, hats, bouncer seat, shopping cart cover, baby bath tub, toddler sippee cups, toddler bowls, plates, silverware, etc, baby bath stuff (shampoo, bedtime bath), thermometer, nail clippers, diapers, wipes.
Then I did register for a few other non essential things like headbands, sunglasses, swim suit.

I think you can register for whatever you want or need really but my personal no list is:

a) anything that is a basic need like diapers, wipes, etc. (its like registering for garbage bags or toilet paper - needed but I will buy myself)
b) breast pump or anything titty related. I think everyone gets the point but no one wants to buy me that stuff.
c) anything Im not going to use in the first few months like a high chair, sippy cups, baby gates, etc

Obviously everyones family and friends are different so you should cater it to what is the norm for you.
