I've been totally MIA for the last couple of weeks.
I had my baby boy August 17th... he was a hypnobabies waterbirth and it went great! I just finally got a chance to be on the computer and type up my birth story, and I posted it in the subforum. Its long, but it has pics
He was born on a Friday morning, we were discharged Saturday morning... and then the following Tuesday we took hi in for a pedi appointment, and they noted his rapid breathing (something I'd voiced concern over to two separate doctors making rounds when we were still in the hospital after giving birth ) and his oxygen was low... so we were rushed off to the children's hospital in Atlanta. We were there for ten days and just got home.
His breathing has improved, but he's not "all better." One of the tests they sent off takes weeks to come back. The other test they planned to do to get a diagnosis was a lung biopsy, which obviously we wanted to avoid if at all possible. Because his breathing improved and he was able to go without the extra oxygen... they agreed to the wait & see approach and sent us home with a pulse ox monitor and oxygen tanks "just in case." While we're THRILLED to finally be home with our daughter and sleep in our own beds... it sucks that we aren't able to take home a perfectly healthy baby boy, and so any prayers for his health and good test results in the future are appreciated. One of the things they're testing for ... the only treatment is a lung transplant. So we're dealing with what could potentially be some scary stuff but we are praying for the best, and that with time he's healed completely. It broke my heart... the day we were sent to the children's hospital he endured 8 different IV attempts they kept blowing (including one in his poor little forehead)... it took 5 attempts and 2 people to do his spinal tap, a chest x ray, catheter, ECHO, blood draws, etc. and all the while he wasn't allowed to eat for TWELVE hours! They just kept giving him sugar water and a paci. It was unbearable to watch happen to a four day old.
Anyway... we are home now. and while I won't have a ton of time on the computer, now that I've gotten my birth story written down I'll be on JM more often.
I'm so happy to hear you guys were able to go home. I've been praying for your lil guy just about every night (I won't lie, sometimes I pass put before I even have a chance to say my nighttime prayers). I will continue to pray for y'all and hope things work out the best they can!
