So, we moved the kids into one bedroom over the weekend and it's gone really well so far. They both love sharing a room and love their new mattresses and beds. We moved Penny out of her crib and into a "big girl" bed and Jack got a double bed instead of his old twin because he still has trouble falling asleep without either John or I lying down next to him and we want to make it move comfortable for us. It's not totally done decor-wise, but it will get there in the next few weeks.
Anyway, we first thought we would move them into Jack's existing room because he has a harder time adjusting, but Penny's room much bigger. We painted another wall in her room tan to make it more boyish, but kept her pink wall with flowers. I think it will work for the time being since they will only share a room for a couple years at the very most. Once we have the baby and find out what the gender is, we'll move the baby in with whomever is the same gender.
Because of moving them into Penny's room, I had to remove all the baby clothes and diapers I had stored in her closet and OMG, I'm so overwhelmed! I feel like a freaking hoarder with how much stuff came out of it! So the first pic is the kids' new room and the second is the disaster pic that will eventually be the baby's nursery (I guess we are doing a nursery after all, but I'm not changing the decor, just working with what I have):
OMG, how am I even going to begin to get through this mess????
Have no fear, what is now the Nursery looked worse than that when DH was cleaning his stuff out of it last month. Its really amazing how fast a mess like that can be cleaned up and cleared out.
Good thing is it looks like lots of baby stuff in the piles.
Thank you *JMC1988* for the perfect siggy
The room looks really cute! Love the colors and the layout of the room...looks like you did the whole thing just for them. No worries about the nursery. You will be able to get through it pretty fast once you get a chance to start on it. It's just so dang overwhelming! Anyway, looking good!

The kids room looks really cute! I love the flowers on the wall! And you're not alone, our nursery is a huge disaster right now too. I know you'll get there in time and can't wait to see it when it's done!

Glad to hear I'm not the only one working through piles of sorting for the nursery. I need to pull up my sleeves. I texted my mom the photo of Jack's old room and she told me she'd love to come down and help. She can't get down until October though and I am too impatient. Will keep you guys posted!
