So I just met with the doula who attended DS's birth & will be attending this one as well. We went thru DS's birth, & I nearly keeled over when she mentioned this: while I was in the room laboring, a nurse came in to openly inform my midwife (in front of me) to simply be aware that the commotion in the hallway -- people crying, etc -- was because a newborn baby had died. OmG, she seriously better be glad I was concentrating on a contraction & didn't hear her, because I would've likely gone psycho on her. What the heck was she thinking??!!??

Anyone else have a nurse or doc say something totally outrageous?

Not to me, but one of my friend had a horrible experience with this ancient on call dr (who has since been forced into retirement).
Her baby's heart was slowing during contractions and he was about to perform an episiotomy to speed the delivery up, he said angrily to a nurse, "These scissors are dull!! There's no time though, we have to work with what we've got."

There are just some people that clearly don't have their heads on straight. Dull scissors? Okay, let me shave your eyes out with a dull razor and you tell me there's still no time to simply get a new pair. Guh

OMG! No way! I seriously hope none of us have to go through anything to make it into these type of threads in the future.

I know, can you imagine?? I still shudder about it. I felt so bad for her, she had a really rough birth and he was mostly to blame. I felt so bad for her. I gave birth at the same hospital and this horrible dr was on duty the day after I had my son and took me off my heavy painkillers because he thought a vaginal birth didn't need extra pain management. I was in agony until I finally complained enough. I guess he didn't bother to read in my chart that I had a 3rd degree tear and a surgery after the birth! Seriously, some drs should be banned from coming near women.
I can't imagine about the nurse busting in with that kind of news, what are some people thinking?
