Our insurance agents were in today and informed me that because of the women's preventive services included in the health care reform for 2012, breast pumps are now required to be covered. Some insurnaces are just covering the renting (minimum amount under the law) but I know our new policy is now 100% the cost of the pump since in the long run it's cheaper for them.
For those that checked, I would recheck again before purchasing one. The policy is the same that it was for me 3 years ago in that you need a pedi or OB script for the pump and you have to get it filled via one of their approved sites.
Link to the info about what else is covered. GD screening should be covered 100% now too according to the bill.
Breastfeeding support, supplies, and counseling.Comprehensive lactation support and counseling, by a trained provider during pregnancy and/or in the postpartum period, and costs for renting breastfeeding equipment. In conjunction with each birth.
