i just woke up to take care of little pumpkin, and i went to the bathroom to find blood. i stopped bleeding from the lochia about a week ago, but i stopped once before and then it came back. i am 5 weeks pp this tuesday. so is this bleeding my period or lochia?
no, i had to switch to formula. even when i was breastfeeding though i basically breastfed once right after birth and then she was put in the nicu and i was pumping because she had to have a feeding tube for a while. then i breastfed probably 3 or 4 times total while she was still in the nicu after they took the feeding tube away. once she got home i tried a couple times but my milk supply wasn't what it was before and she wouldn't latch properly.
how do i know when i get my period that it's actually my period and not lochia?
I think there's a different smell to it. For me, lochia carries a bit of an odd, sweeter smell than regular period blood. But I agree that I think it's still lochia. When I was PP with my son, after the lochia I think I went 4-5 weeks no bleeding at all before I had a "normal" period.
