Has anyone ever dealt with one on a child/baby? We confirmed with the doctor this morning that it is probably one, basically a cyst of the mucous membrane. It's awful-looking, but doesn't bother her, so for now we are just going to watch it.

No one has seen this either, huh?

Two ladies from my old DDC have dealt with it. So I guess not terribly uncommon.

I've never seen this before. But I'm glad it's not painful. Does it affect eating?

Poor baby it looks painful, but I'm glad it's not. I've never seen or heard of that before. How does it go away?

Doesn't seem to be painful. And thankfully, doesn't affect eating. The ladies in my DDC from '09 said that it will go away-- wish it would soon!
One mom has two kids who've had one, one child only once, and the other has gotten multiple. The other mom gets them herself.
I've never heard of it before E, but from what I've read it seems to be caused by a trauma to the mouth. Thinking since she sucks in her bottom lip that maybe that has caused it, but who knows.

Back from the dentist. He said it is a mucocele, and she's the youngest he's ever seen to have one. He said leave it and it should eventually resolve itself. Yay for Dr. Google.
