I had an ultrasound yesterday and while the Ultrasound tech was measuring the baby I noticed her measuring her belly about 3 times.. then she said "i'm making sure this is right because seems she has a chubby belly". My obgyn came in and said Bianca was growing very nicely and was at 5 lbs.
My daughter was 7 lbs 12pz and my Son was 8lbs 6 oz.. wondering if this baby is going to be bigger?
she sounds on track! but completely disagree with ultrasound being up to 1 pound off either direction... with today's technology the techs need to be pretty accurate.. you can have a tech who isn't doing their job correctly, but they are SUPPOSED to be very accurate.. mine had to be within 10% of baby's actual weight at that time, which means basically can only be off by a few ounces
It depends on when the u/s is taken, and the further along the greater the margin of error. My dr said its a 10-15% margin of error, so if they say baby is 8 lbs, that means they can be off anywhere from 12 oz to over a lb. At full term I was told Nora was going to be 8.5 lbs. The next day she came out at 7.5!
