I know we had started to discuss hospital bags a few months back, but now that a lot of us are hitting the 3rd trimester and will need to start thinking about packing soon, or at least making sure we have everything we'll need, I was thinking we could make one big list of ideas of what to pack. I'll keep this first post updated with everyone's answers and then sticky this post.

What to pack for you:
birth plan
sugar free gum/hard candy for during labor
your own water container
juice drinks
change of clothes
going home outfit
PJs
socks/slippers
robe
extra underwear
your own pads (I use Always...I hate the ones my hospital has)
nursing bras
breast pads
Lanolin lotion
Chapstick
bobby pillow
your own pillow
blanket
any prescriptions that are needed
Motrin (so I don't have to bug the nurses)
flip flops for shower
shampoo & conditioner
lotion
body spray
toothbrush & toothpaste
deodorant
make up
hair dryer & straightener (to look pretty for pictures!)
hair ties/headband
comb/brush
contact list for calls
Insurance/Health coverage cards
camera & charger/extra batteries
phone & charger
laptop/iPad & charger
iPod with labor playlist (not everyone will be able to labor to music, it helped me to stay focused though when people were talking all around me)
magazines/books/nook
a game to play in between contractions
pen & paper to keep track of things for the birth story

What to pack for DH/SO/labor support:
roll of quarters for vending machines
snacks & drinks
change of clothes
PJs
toothbrush/toothpaste
pillow
phone & charger
the rooms here have DVD players so we may take him a movie to pass time
magazines/book

What to pack for baby:
cozy blankets
a few sleepers and onesies
1 premie and 1 NB outfit or 1 NB and 1 0-3 month outfit
outfit for hospital picture
a warm hat for leaving
scratch mittens
bring a diaper bag to put extra diapers and wipes the hospital gives
bottles and diapers just in case we don't get to go straight home
Baby book (especially if your has a place for footprints)

I personally don't take much as I don't plan on more then a fee days there
For me all I need is a change of clothes, my phone, laptop, camera and cord, and all chargers. My hair is always up so I have that hair tie and I put one in the babies bag incase it breaks.
For baby I will be taking one premie and one newborn outfit(if your not having twins or know they will be bigger do nb and 0-3 months instead) blankets for the ride home, I bring bottles and diapers just in case we don't get to go straight home.
For dh we have a roll of quarters for vending snaks and some snack crackers to munch on, since he can leave we don't bother with more then an extra shirt for him, the rooms here have DVD players so we may take him a movie to pass time.

I don't pack a whole lot just because it is more crap to haul home!

What to pack for you:

Extra clothes to go home in
bobby pillow
nursing bra's
breast pads
Camera
phone
all the chargers
laptop or ipad (haven't decided which yet)
shampoo, conditioner, brush. Tooth brush and toothpaste

What to pack for DH/SO/labor support:

He will probably just bring some extra clothes, might not.

What to pack for baby:

one premie outfit and one newborn
blanket
maybe a hat
bring a diaper bag to put extra diapers and wipes the hospital gives

-Chapstick! My lips get so parched during labor.

-Definitely the camera bag and extra batteries or charger

-Snacks like trail mix or granola bars so DH doesn't have to make runs to the vending machine

Just a few for me.
I hate to say probably beer to go in the mini fridge for DH. Of course he wont be getting into that until after I deliver
Then probably just little bottles of juice for me to go in fridge. Maybe a Starbucks frappchino
Then I will want my own water jug. The ones the hospital give are too small for me. I want my 52oz one

Hmm... the only thing I can think of to be added to the list is a game to play in between contractions. We'll be bringing Uno

Why do you think you need flip flops for the shower? Shouldn't the hospital be pretty sanitary? (Ive never stayed in a hospital before so Im really curious about this one)

Its not that I dont think it would be clean.
My only thought is I have no idea what has been in that shower being its going to be in a room where women deliver babies. Just my idiosyncrasies

Since we are able to use the shower during labor, I'm adding a shower cap to my list.
