Will you be creating a birth announcement after your LO arrives?

BTDT moms, care to share if you created one for your previous babies?

We have one from DD, I'll have to try and find it later on his computer.

We didn't do cards or anything in the mail, but we did put a birth announcement in the local paper.

Here is a scan of it:

Yes, I plan on putting something together. Not sure what yet. I've seen so many cute ones, it's hard to decide!

Just FYI - if anyone hasn't used Vista Print before, they give away a lot of freebies and sometimes you can grab some free cards! I was able to make some free Christmas cards last year. I'm hoping to find one of those deals again for these.

Yes - definitely! I did a cheapo walgreen's version with Marlowe, which worked - but this time around it's definitely going to be something higher end. I like using Etsy for this...since I don't have photoshop or any other print type software.

This one is nice: Baby Boy Birth Announcement Printable Luke baby by CardsEtcetera

But then, it would be nice to have something with big sister in it too...

Yes, but score that they'll be going out before Christmas because I'm going to make them birth announcement/Christmas cards and save on the effort. A few Christmases ago, we moved right before, so I got to do moving announcement/Christmas cards and I loved it.

If we do one, it will be an announcement/christmas card hybrid. I'll be making it myself!

We probably wont make a birth announcement, probably just put his picture in the Christmas card. We usually make a letter, too, so we'll put details in that.

Of course we also have 3 birthdays (my girls and my husbands), Thanksgiving, Christmas, plus this baby's birth in that time frame so who knows what the heck will get done.

I didnt for Greyson, but Im thinking about it this time. I have so many people not knowing that Im even pregnant (by choice due to so many unsupportive people around me) and I havent told anyone outside my family about the Downs diagnosis. Reading a lot of the material the genetic counselor gave us, things written by parents who have been in the same position, several said it saved them the headache and emotionally exhaustion of having to tell people over and over. So thats my main reason for considering it...

I think that makes a lot of sense, Ashleigh!

Quotes may be cliche, but sometimes they're a really good way to share your thoughts. I think a nice card with a photo of baby Truett, his birth information and a quote might be just the way to tactfully explain to people how special he is.

Here are a couple of good ones:

“I know there is strength in the differences between us. I know there is comfort where we overlap.” - Ani DiFranco,

“Our greatest strength as a human race is our ability to acknowledge our differences, our greatest weakness is our failure to embrace them.” - Judith Henderson

“The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves, and not to twist them to fit our own image. Otherwise we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them.” - Thomas Merton

And my personal favorite:
“Accept the children the way we accept trees—with gratitude, because they are a blessing—but do not have expectations or desires. You don’t expect trees to change, you love them as they are.” - Isabel Allende

Love the last quote, Maggie! Ashleigh, I think a birth announcement / holiday newsletter type thing would be a great idea to same you from reselling everything over and over too.

I really want to do one. It will depend when she is born and when her newborn pictures are taken if I can do it as a Christmas card/ birth announcement.

If I do just a birth announcement I might make it myself with my Print Shop program or if I do one with Walgreens or something.

Cassie thanks for the Vista Print idea, I will have to check on that. They are where I get my return address labels.
