Will you prepare your own or use jarred? Jarred. We get WIC so I will get tons of it. No use letting it go to waste.

Will you start with cereal?I already have. He LOVES oatmeal and goes nuts with it. He eats perfectly from a spoon and sits up well. Next month we'll start veggies slowly.

Haha...he's been eating barley and oatmeal from the spoon since 9-10 weeks.

Was thinking of starting food actually this week because he's been REALLY interested in food - I was eating a string cheese on Sunday and he actually reached for it and stared at me the whole time - this is very new.

Had his 4 month well and my doc said go ahead and start fruits and veggies now. I really intended to make my own, but my husband is leaving for his new job on Friday, so I need to pack this house, care of Pax, WORK, take care of the dog...I'm just not going to have time til I get down to SC

We probably won't start until at least 6 months. We'll skip cereal and probably start with avocado. I'll let her lead this.

I was having to put rice cereal in Spencer's bottles at around 3wks for his horrible reflux issues. Started giving him oatmeal at around 3mos. He is 5mos now and has tried carrots, squash, green beans and sweetpeas. He LOVES to eat, he get oatmeal after his 2nd bottle in the morning still and then a veggie at dinner time just before we eat. I plan to start making my own soon. I think i am going to try fruits soon as well, most likely mixed in with his oatmeal in the mornings af first, at least until we have used what we have left.

We've tried rice cereal. We also have the baby bullet, and we pureed and apple which he liked! My dad gave him ice cream and cupcake frosting at my daughter's birthday. Sigh.

Ethan has been really interested in food lately. The other day he watched my husband really closely when he ate a banana. We had his 4 month appointment today, and the dr advised we wait till at least 6 months to start him on any kind of baby food. He is only in the 20th percentile for his weight and he's been a small baby since he was born, so she thinks it would be best for him. She suggested we could start cereal anytime if the formula isn't satisfying him, but so far he's doing just fine so I probably will just skip it. I plan on making my own baby food if I can, but we will see how that works out!

I'll start with rice cereal and oatmeal at 6 months.

Lindsey you'll probably have those jars of baby food for a long time! Lol. I still have about 30+ jars left from DD1 when I was getting WIC for her.

My Dr gave us the go ahead at 4 months. I tried Single Grain Rice & Oatmeal cereals a little earlier than that. Evan's not really a fan of those. We just bought some Gerber fruit/veggie purees that are specifically for "supported sitters" over the weekend. So far we've tried the banana & the apple. He seems to like them. He's getting better with the spoon but still trying to get used to it. I only give him a little "solid" food maybe once a day or every other day. He is still primarily eating formula.

My DH gives Evan little "tastes" of stuff all the time, lol

I stressed too much about my first eating solids so this time around we are just going to wait and let him led the way. I figure when he can sit up and grab food himself we will start him with table food mushed up. Dh let him lick the apple he was eating but that doesn't really bother me cause it was just an apple.

Will you prepare your own or use jarred? A little of both, especially once DH is back at work!

Will you start with cereal? We have done a couple of nights of cereal, but she wasn't ready like I thought she was...we will try again probably this weekend and see what happens. She wanted to eat sister's apple this morning, so I think she might be ready now...lol!

I literally cannot believe how many I am going to get a month. I was looking at the amounts and told the hubby that I do not think he'll eat that much, but we'll see. Lol. I guess they give BF babies more too. Like 60+ jars a month on top of cereal. Worse case scenario if I do not use all of it our church has a program that helps moms in need, so I could always go that route if needed.

Our pedi had us start her on real food at 15 weeks because she was nursing constantly. She LOVES veggies and fruit of all descriptions - she got mad at me this morning cuz I didn't give me her "breakfast". We opted to skip cereal and are going slow with the fruit and veg, trying to stay with the low starch, low allergen stuff - she grabs stuff off our plates all the time to chew on it - it's hillarious, don't know how much she actually swallows when she does that, If we actually want her to eat it we give it to her on a spoon - she's really good, doesn't do the little tongue thing and spit it back out or anything

I plan to do baby led eating at 7-9 months. Just whenever she shows interest. She is completely opposite from my DS. I was planing to do baby led weaning to him too, but had to start feeding him solids at 2.5 months because he would nurse for about 70% of the time he was awake. I was very hesitant, but the pedi recommended.

I will let Tristan decide. With my first I was excited and probably rushed into it, this time I am waiting as long as he is satisfied. Will start with cereal and veggies soon after.

I'm going to wait and see when Jaxen shows interest and then decide then. No stress or worry- really- its just food. Sad that this topic needs to come with the disclaimer- so odd how normal things are controversial and judgment worthy.

Like everything else so far- I'm just taking each day as it comes. I got a baby bullet for the baby shower so I'll likely make her food because I want to use it. No problems with jarred food though.

she is 3 months old and has shown no interest in it so far.
