Ok I am planning to spend the weekend with my mom while DD and DH are camping with the girl scout troop this weekend. But someone just told me that you are NOT suppose to get pedicures when your this far along becuase it can send you into preterm labor. Has anyone heard this, is this true??????

I think you only have to beware of them massaging in a certain way - but I'll look for the link now. I still go and they are wonderful

Yeah - have them avoid massaging between the ankle bone & heel.

I can't stay away, they are my indulgence. The women who does my pedicures is great and knows the pressure points to stay away from. In a month or so, I'm going to have her start massaging those spots again, heehee.

Ive been getting them from the start. I don't believe rubbing my feet in a certain way is going to cause labor. If it were that simple, they would rub your feet at the hospital instead of giving pitocin.

But then they wouldn't be able to charge your insurance company for it

Yeah, it's that area around your ankles that is considered a pressure point to induce labor. You also have a point in the webbing between your thumb and pointer finger.

Who knows, though, when I was 39 wks prego I would be rubbing and rubbing those points and NOTHING happened, haha.

When I learned massage at school, they gave us a whole map of pressure points and what part of the body they supposedly stimulate... of course, it's all speculation and mostly just holistic belief. I have Conner give me the hardest foot massages EVER because they feel so good, haha. So far, no baby has come out of me

Ive been getting them-just had one on Sunday I havent said anything to them. I dont think they'd really be massaging enough or long enough to actually start labor. Last time I got a massage, they said there is also a spot along your neck down to your collar bone. Once I get to about 37-38 weeks, Im getting massages and pushing all those places!

I went and got one and babies are still baking I know there may be some truth to this, but everywhere you read tells you to have hubby rub your feet to help with pain, I don't think nurses, books etc would be saying that if he could send you into labor... I say get yourself pampered!
