I'm not breastfeeding but I started today too...at the Drs office for the boys, with no supplies and super heavy! The dr is 45 min from home on top of a mountain bc we haven't switched since moving so I had to have DH bring me pads/tampons and pants!

Are you sure?? With both my girls I swore I got AF back around 6w pp but it never came back after that until about 9months. It might just be leftover PP bleeding.

I would guess that is what it is, especially if you are EBF. It happened to me and I have heard of it happening to others. You think your pp bleeding is done and it starts back up a bit for awhile. I guess the only way to know for sure is to wait til next month. But I am betting it won't come back if you are EBF. Hopefully, at least!

I have heard of AF not showing when BF but I dont think everyone is so lucky.

I'm pretty sure mine that started yesterday is just left over PP bleeding since I'm only 2 1/2 weeks PP. But hoping AF wont show for me since I'm BF and pumping.

Id bet its still PP bleeding. I hope so for you! I am not looking forward to that again...

Katie, you too. Its normal for it to be bright red within that first 6 weeks.

Yeah it comes and goes for quite a while for some people. And even if you do get a period back it may skip months. I have had periods while breastfeeding before but my kids sleep through feedings at night plenty so it can return earlier. I got the Mirena IUD inserted during the csection so I'm hoping it just stays away for good(5 years anyway) this time.

I got the mirena after Greyson and I did have period but they were so light that I only ever needed a pantyliner once in a while. It was nice...

It's great right! I've had 2 Mirena before(1 Paragard also...not as great but still good BC). My cramping gets really terrible and the Mirena should control it. I don't mind the bleeding near as much as the cramping.

I was wondering the same thing myself. My pp bleeding stopped after a couple of weeks but then three days ago I started bleeding again - and it was bright red and not that heavy, but more than the end of the pp bleeding. I am also worried it is AF - I don't want AF!! Hopefully the posts here are right and it is just left over bright red pp bleeding. I am exclusively breastfeeding so was hoping that would keep AF and my fertility away!
