I'm afraid I've made my supply way to high.

I am nursing Samantha. She eats every 2-3 hours and she will nurse anywhere from 5-20 minutes. Most times she nurses 10-15 minutes on one side and then maybe 5-10 minutes from the other side. She sometimes is still hungry after that and will then take a bottle of 1-2oz (depending on how long she nursed).

Then I am pumping also. I have to pump every 3-5 hours or I start leaking like faucet and getting engorged. Total pain in the a** having to do it so often. When I pump I get 2-4oz from each side.
Even with what I fee her from bottles, I've got a weeks worth of milk in the freezer. 2 to 4 bags of 4-10oz for each day.

Not sure if I've made my production too high for the demand.
If so how can I reduce it so I dont have to pump as often?

As painful as it may be I'd only relieve the top of the milk when you do pump. Just don't empty the breasts as that will signal your body that it is not needed in such high demand. Only pump what you need if at all possible. It may mean you actually pump more often for a few days in smaller amounts but should level out soon. Full breast=slower production, empty breast=faster production. HTH and you can get leveled out asap

I started last night only pumping for about 5 minutes and only getting about 1-1.5oz. And only when I either started leaking real bad or was in pain. I did notice I was in pain quicker throughout the night so I know I didnt empty.
I want to try to go longer between pumping but to start I will just relieve what I need to when I start to hurt. I'm hoping this works soon, I would like to stop feeling like a diary cow

Peppermint will decrease your supply. either the essential oil or even just drinking peppermint tea.

Oh thanks. DO you does peppermint candy with peppermint oil do it too?

Would it be smart to pump from the side she doesnt nurse for as long as she would nurse normally if she only nurses one side?

I'm not as bad as you, but I can relate. If I don't pump, I get REALLY uncomfortable and leaky, even with him eating every 1.5-2 hours the last few days. I tried pumping less, but then I got a blocked duct I will try the peppermint, thanks for the tip!
