What has surprised you the most about your newborn?

How sweet he is. He is such a little angel baby; even his cry is kind of sweet sounding and gentle. I'm used to screamers, so this is nice.

Her strength! If she doesn't want something done, she will fight and makes it very hard. Like getting dressed, for example. Or the other day, she kicked off the side of her little bathtub and almost propelled herself out of it... sheesh.

I've been surprised by the spitting up. I guess I just didn't even realize how much newborns spit up. Of course since she's my first baby I have no idea if the amount she does is average, more, or less, but it sure seems like a lot to me.

Totally the opposite here. I'm surprised at how fussy she is. She screams at the top of her lungs. But the worst is how she fails her arms and legs and thrashes her head from side to side.

I am surprised by how tiny this guy was. He wasn't that much smaller weight wise (and I know he was larger than the average baby) but he seems so tiny to me. Even at almost a month old, he seems so much smaller than my other guys.

Sorry to hear. I know stressful it can be when they cry and cry and nothing pacifies them. Hang in there, mamma, you are doing a great job.

I think Ill always be surprised at how big he was and is! Totally wasnt expecting it at all. Both girls were 7 pounders. He is only 3 wks old but 12 lbs and looks like a 2 mo old. His 0-3 mo clothes are getting tight! Hes my football player.

I'll always be surprised at how early she came and how big she was for being so early. 6lbs 15oz at 5 weeks early. The dr said if she would have been term then she would have been 10-12 lbs

Not too much surprising here...she sweet and sleepy like her sisters were. Maybe the sucking? She's so dang strong with it.

I was surprised to have taken 2 weeks to bring him home. Though with the higher risks of so many things, Im also surprised at how strong and healthy he is. Just a bit of an oxygen need and hopefully that wont be for long. Im also surprised at how mellow he is. He barely cries at all, just so content.

i wasnt expecting a three week hospital stay for both and grayson to have to be on a monitor for his heart for a month. and Lorelei is so cranky all the time. Grayson is some times but it seems like all she does is scream...they are like oposits. i guess Savannah was just an angel baby and gave me false hope for having anougher baby

The biggest surprise for me was how small he was. After hearing for months how he was going to be a 10lb baby from people, I was shocked when the said he was 7lbs 3oz. Perfectly normal weight, just not what I was expecting.

I'm surprised that he weighed 8lbs 6oz at birth, but seems so small. And he's been such a big pooper. He pooped 7 times within the first 24 hours! Seems to be tapering off a little though.
