I can do research til my fingers bleed and asking my dr yields both a dr and male perspective....so tell me...what was the surgery like? Your recovery?

I'm considering it and want to know what real women have experienced before even bringing it up in conversation with Dh. And I trust you guys.

I had mine with the c section. I have to say the tubal caused more oain then my c section. I felt alot of pulling inside for about a week. The doctor said that was normal however it doesnt feel so great when youre trying to get out of bed.

I just had a tubal yesterday. I had some pretty server cramping right after coming out of surgery. They had a hard time managing the pain. Felt like I had a 2 hour long contraction. Much worse than labor. Took them 2 hours to get the pain to where it was tolerable enough to send me back to my room. I had some cramping the rest of the day but nothing too bad. I took some motrin last night before bed. I woke up pretty much pain free with the exception of some slight soreness in the incision areas. Nothing that I need meds for. As long as I dont over due it then I pretty much am pain free. Defenitly something I would do over.

Also my surgery was the one where they put the clamps on your tubes all done through laparoscopy. I also have a high pain tolerance.

I had a tubal 1.5 months after Scarlett was born. After Surgery I had some discomfort and had them write a script for percocet. I took it for 2 days and rested up. Had no problems since then and it has been just shy of a year.

Mine was with my c-section. Ya know, even though we are done... Im so super sad. There will be no opsie. There will be no pee on a stick just for fun. Its over over. Like over. Forever. Im totally totally done but its soooooo final. If I knew this was my feeling I wouldnt have done it. I would have done one of those 5 year things etc. So, I havent told anyone... not even my DH but im super duper sad. :-( Whats done is done. There was no pain though. Ive had LOTS of bleeding and go to my OB tomorrow. Im on Provera for uncontrolled bleeding right now. Really? So, Im gaining weight, bloated, moody,on BC and have a tubal? This is for the birds! Im not sure if its because of the tubal or not. Ive never had this much trouble with my other kids.

Popping in from Oct. PR... think long and hard about the risks of hormonal imbalance from a tubal. I have known several people who really struggled with this following a tubal, and a vasectomy does not carry those risks.

I was thinking about getting one, but I think Im just going to go with the Mirena again. I only have 1 tube anyway (ectopic) so Im not worried about an oopsie with the IUD.

You know, I feel the same way. I keep thinking to myself that I want my fertility back. I don't want any more kids but I want my fertility! I keep telling myself that makes no sense but I feel like I lost something when I had the tubal. Now that I am several days post op, pain wise it was nothing and would do it again, if and only if I did not feel this loss that I feel. I have already found myself researching tubal reverse surgerys.

Thanks all. I'm researching a tubal because Dh isn't 100% on board with a vasectomy. And hormonal bc is no longer an option for me. Mirena was awful. Abdominal and back pain the entire time it was in.

When we are done, DH will be getting the snip whether he likes it or not. It is a much easier less painful procedure. I figure that after the woman has gone through childbirth, the man can suck it up and deal with the getting fixed part.
