Since I'm having to take a break from BF to see if the formula will help solve Samantha's issues, I'm just straight pumping. I'm trying not to too often so I dont increase my supply especially if she cant drink my milk. But I'm in so much pain. I've been able to go about 4hrs before being in too much pain and then having to pump about 2-3oz from each side.

If I pump until it slows down will that increase my supply even if I only do that every 4hrs?
I can pump only 1-1/2oz but then I have to do that at least every hr or so.

Also how long should I wait after seeing if the formula is working before I start trying to decrease my supply?

Sorry, just saw this now. What's the status now? Is she still on formula or breastfeeding again?

I think if you only pump til slowing down you will likely decrease your supply but not very quickly.

As for time passing before stopping, I'd probably speak to the Ped about that as they will know how long is needed before determining that it is an allergy/intolerance to milk. I would only be guessing that a week minimum and more likely 2 weeks just because these patterns can be hard to determine.

Let us know how it's going now

Still not BF.
Its been about 5 days now and she seems to be doing quite a bit better on the formula. She isnt having her freakout fits at night like she was and during the day she will actually lay on the floor or be in her bouncer for a while happy.

I think my supply is going down. Only pumping 4-5 times a day now. I'm able to go 4-6 hours now and pump 2-3oz. I sometimes still leak like a dang faucet through the pads even, So I have to pump then. It still gets real painful towards the 6 hours, I would be fine but the milk glands get super huge & hard.

Well it sounds like you are on the right road then Just keep spacing them out for as long as you can and it will get better. I wouldn't worry about the leaking other than it being annoying. Sometimes I will leak like crazy even after pumping out "everything". Our bodies haven't learned to regulate just yet. It can take a few days at a time to reduce amounts so don't be surprised if you stay at this rate for pumping for a little while yet. At least she is happy even if if you are uncomfy for now :/ Hope it lets up soon!
