Owlbert touched down on Saturday, January 12, and Jack was very excited to spend some time with him.
He arrived just in time to make a cameo in Jack's monthly pics.
On Sunday, Owlbert hung out while I got Jack ready for the day.
We all went to Target to grab some groceries. Owlbert kept Jack company in his car seat. Jack fell asleep, so Owlbert joined him with a nap while William and I shopped.
When we got home, Jack and Owlbert worked with William on the computer. (Too bad they didn't help William shave instead. )
I had to work during the week, but Owlbert hung out with Jack and William, which included a daily 5K walk through our neighborhood and a few excursions to the supermarket, bank, and pharmacy.
Owlbert was patient while Jack had a cry during one of their walks.
Then Jack remembered that he actually likes their walks and decided to straighten up. He even cracked a little smile for his daddy.
Here are some views along the walking route. We live in a valley, with mountains and hills scattered about. This first view is of a burrowing owl preserve in our community. It goes without saying that Owlbert felt right at home.
After William took those pics, he discovered that Jack and Owlbert had fallen asleep.
When the following weekend rolled around, I got to spend more time with my boys and Owlbert. It was an unseasonably warm weekend, with temperatures in the high-70s and low-80s F. On Saturday, we headed to a large outdoor mall.
Here's Jack ready to hit the road!
And here are Jack and Owlbert hanging out in front of the fountain. Too bad it wasn't doing anything spectacular at the time.
We first went to Gymboree to buy some new clothes for Jack.
And then we went to Yard House for lunch.
We walked around the mall a bit more and then decided to head to a large furniture store. We want to purchase new living room furniture, but we were just looking around this day. While Jack, Owlbert, and William were relaxing on a couch, Jack started flirting with one of the women sales associates.
We then browsed the children's section of the store, and we found this baseball glove chair. William loved it, and Jack and Owlbert approved.
On Sunday, we decided to hit the beach. We live only 30 miles from the Pacific Ocean and gorgeous Orange County beaches. So we hit the road around 10:30am that morning, hoping to beat the afternoon rush. Here are some views during our drive - the hills just up the road from our home and those along the freeway. They're typically only green during the months of January and February (our "rainy" season).
We made it to Newport Beach and found a great parking space right on the boardwalk!
We headed down to the beach and then walked onto the pier for some nice views of the ocean and shoreline.
After we left the beach, we decided to stop by Whole Foods to pick up some groceries and lunch.
I returned to work on Tuesday, which also happened to be my birthday. So William dropped by the office with Jack and brought lunch and chocolates!
Jack and Owlbert helped me send some very important emails. (Please ignore the messiness of my office, as I still have a couple of boxes to unpack from our move and I have various papers/binders strewn about. )
We took one final pic with my birthday balloons, and then William, Jack, and Owlbert headed back home. I sent Owlbert on his merry way on Wednesday. And I just know he's looking forward to visiting with Jacqueline and Taryn in Tennessee!
It looks like Owlbert has been very busy! Jackson seems to like him! He's growing up into such a cutie, Adrienne. I think he has mommy's looks. And where you live is just beautiful! I'm so jealous of that scenery and the beach is amazing!!
