You do not need a prescrip for GV but call the drug stores ahead of time. I had to go 18 miles to get it. We were using anti fungal cream which is basically the same as nystatin. It was working on the rash on her bottom but not helping with the yeasty mouth/nipples. I got both of our probiotics at our local health food store. They are both Jarrow's formula Dophilus, but hers is the baby form which only has 3 billion as apposed to 10 billion. Those were helping but not fast enough for me. We are on day 3 of GV and it is pretty much cleared up. Only a bit left on her bottom and none in her mouth. My nipples are itching a lot less too. Just dip a Q tip in and let baby suck on it and paint it on your nipples for releif too. Baby's mouth will be super purple though.
How many times a day do you reapply it? I had heard of the gv before going to the dr and told the dr that I had heard that nystatin usually does not work or it's very slow acting and she said she had a high success rate with her patients, i still felt very unsure leaving the office.
