How many weeks postpartum are u?
Have you tried DTD? If so, how was it?
did you deliver c-section or vaginal?
Any stitches?
Are u taking or using any type of birth control?

I'm almost 5 weeks PP
Yes we have DTD n it wasn't as bad as I anticipated as I still had a stitch left that kind of rubbed a bit but we used a lot of lube
We aren't using any birth control but I am BF n AF hasn't come so I should be go....right?!? Oh I hope so! Anyone have any info about that as I am really hoping the risk is very slim

I'm proof you can get pregnant while breastfeeding. My sister was born April '89 and I came along 13 months later at May '90. You are extremely fertile after giving birth.

I have my pp follow up tomorrow I tore in three places so I've been too scared to actually DTD until my doctor gives the green like. We've done some other stuff, though We'll be using fertility awareness with condoms.

Mary, the rules for the lactational amenorrhea method are as follows:
1. No bleeding after 8 weeks pp
2. baby is less than 6 months old
3. the baby receives ALL feedings from the breast. If you give a bottle of any kind, even if it was just pumped, you no longer qualify and must consider yourself fertile.

If those 3 criterion are true for you, then you good to go. If you have more questions, there's a certified instructor for this on the NFP/FAM board who would answer your questions.

Have you tried DTD? If so, how was it? yep, last night. It was meh because dh was b****ing about the IUD string as usual. Turd.
did you deliver c-section or vaginal? c-section
Any stitches? nope
Are u taking or using any type of birth control? IUD

I would not rely on anything but some form of BC if I didn't want to get pregnant. You just never know. It's too soon to use natural methods since you haven't had a period so...be careful!

It actually happens quite frequently.

I know a lot of people with IUDs who buy cheap dollar store preggo tests and test once a month just to be on the safe side.
I've personally known 8 people who have gotten pregnant once or more with an IUD (minera mostly)

Yeah - she and my dad made a super fertile pair though. I don't know what kind of IUD she used - and it was the 80s so maybe great advances have been made. But yeah, she got pregnant twice - lost the baby the first time they took the IUD out, and had my sister the second time.

How many weeks postpartum are u? 4 weeks

Have you tried DTD? If so, how was it? Yep, yesterday, in fact. It was great, but DH had to be slow and gentle for me. It was really nice to get that part of our relationship back.

did you deliver c-section or vaginal? Csection.

Any stitches? Umm, nope.

Are u taking or using any type of birth control? I got my tubes tied. And thank goodness I did. I was just thinking today 'I wouldn't mind getting preggo again' then immediately thought 'holy cow, I'm so glad I got my tubes tied'! Honestly, I cannot nor do I want to do it again...but babies have that effect on me I guess.

As for thinking BF protects you...I have a very good friend who has conceived 3 of her 4 children while BFing and NOT having an PPAF. So yeah, it happens. I also know a girl who exclusively BFd, no bottles etc, and she conceived 3 months after her son was born. So yeah, nothing is guaranteed, ever!

I did this when I had the Mirena in. My periods were so light that I never trusted it and felt paranoid unless I double checked. I'll probably do this again.

How many weeks postpartum are u? 4 weeks and a bit
Have you tried DTD? If so, how was it? Not yet... waiting for my pelvic at my 6 week appt. Been a little hesitant because of my c-section.
did you deliver c-section or vaginal? C-section
Any stitches? Nope
Are u taking or using any type of birth control? We haven't decided what to do yet. We have to wait until at least 8 or 9 months before we get pregnant again, but bc has never worked very well for us. Docs won't give me hormonal because of a history of blood clots, but we got pregnant before using both condoms and a sponge. So we're kind of worried about it. Going to talk with our midwife and OB about possible options.

From Wikipedia:

Effectiveness

The hormonal IUD is considered to be a long-acting reversible contraceptive, among the most effective forms of birth control. The first year failure rate for the hormonal IUD is .2% and the five year failure rate is .7%.[2] These rates are comparable to tubal sterilization, but the effects of the hormonal IUD are reversible.

Pretty dang good if you ask me.

Mary, the problem with waiting for AF to return is that by the time she does return, you have already ovulated and didn't know....

How many weeks postpartum are u? 5 1/2 weeks
Have you tried DTD? If so, how was it? not yet, not from lack of wanting but we just can't seem to find time at night to sneak off to the guest room where James isn't awake and I'm not too tired.
did you deliver c-section or vaginal? vaginal
Any stitches? yes
Are u taking or using any type of birth control? no, but we'll use condoms and NFP until I decide to either get an IUD or just continue with NFP. I like the idea of the IUD, but I am a bit afraid of heavy periods and cramping so we'll see.

Also wanted to add that baby cant be going more than 4 hrs at night without eating. That'll make ya fertile faster than anything hahaha.

Im 5 wks PP.
No sexin' yet.
Vaginal birth.
Yes to the stitches. 2nd degree tear.
DH will be getting a vas within the next year, whenever we get all these medical bills and MW bills paid off. Until then we arent using anything. My fertility didnt come back until 15 months last time and I dont see why it wont do the same this time. Id prefer not to be pregnant (ever, EVER) again, but if it happens, well, it was meant to be.
