Quick recap: A Carnival cruise ship is now stranded in the Gulf of Mexico after an engine fire. With power issues and few working toilets, guests are being asked to urinate in the showers (and are only being provided with cold showers, no less…so this should not be a problem) and are facing 3 ½ hour food lines. Some guests are sleeping on the deck of the ship as not all rooms have air conditioning, and some guests have complained of sewage running down the walls. The ship must now be towed back to shore, and is scheduled to arrive back at port on Thursday.
Eek! That's the same ship we cruised on just a couple years ago. Andrew told me about that last night, but I didn't know all the details. How awful! I can't imagine being stuck out there in these conditions, but since no one was hurt it obviously could have been worse.
Cassie, wife to Andrew, mommy to Sophia and Landon!
How terrible! I would be so angry if my vacation got ruined like that! Cruises are NOT cheap. My mom used to go on a cruise at least 3 times a year if not more so I have been on a bunch in my life and I have NEVER experienced anything like this. It really makes me second guess ever planning one again. I am definitely thankful that no one is hurt and stuff but that must just be so awful for all those people expecting to go on a fun vacation and ending up in those conditions. They were saying that there was feces running down the walls in some rooms and that toilets were overflowing with no AC! Could you imagine the terrible smell that must be on that ship?!?! UGH!
That sounds AWFUL. We were just looking at taking that cruise next year since it sails out of Galveston so we woun't need airfare for all 5 of us but now I don't know....I bet it will be super cheap!! I've never had a vacation be that bad though!!
