Mommies that are cloth diapering - you may remember that my mom is doing my CD laundry for me for the first 6 months. My concern is that when I get the clean ones back, those diapers that were BM diapers still have a yellow stain around the inside edges. The girl that had these diapers before me kept them immaculate - and I'm wondering what we're doing wrong to leave these stains?

We're doing the cold wash, hot wash, extra rinse cycle, and using Charlie's Soap - which came highly recommended on one of the CD sites. Any thoughts on this? I know I got a total bargain on these Fuzzibunz, but I really want to keep them in good shape.

I wouldn't worry about the stains too much, but if you are, sunning then is the best for removing stains. Also, just time - they will work themselves out a little bit more with every wash.
PS - I want your mom!! She is awesome!

Thanks, Mary! I'll try to stop being so anal (ha) about my CD's. I just didn't know if this was normal, or if we should try using a different soap, etc.

Also, perhaps I should be more diligent about rinsing these (BM) diapers before they go to her? I was told that you don't need to rinse off the breastmilk BM's because they come off so easily in the pre-wash - but perhaps this was a mistake. Thoughts?

(And yes...she is awesome.)

Yes, sunning them will take the stains away. I also bleach mine every other week.

And like Mary said, you really don't need to worry about the stains. It just looks bad, it doesn't affect how the diaper works at all. You're doing nothing wrong

Lucy, how do you bleach them without hurting the PUL? All of mine are pockets.

I ask because living in Michigan in February = not a huge amount of sun.

I do the usual prewash cold, then I soak them for a while in cold with 1/4 cup bleach (not very much at all!), then I wash hot with All Free and Clear, then I do an extra rinse. I don't know if that's the right way, it's just what I've been doing and so far it works. We have no windows facing the sun in my apt and obviously I don't have a clothes line outside, but you know what I've discovered works? Putting them on the dashboard of my car. The sun seems magnified there. Sure, it looks weird, but people already think I'm weird for CD'ing It doesn't take much sun, just an hour or two.
