Quick Recap: A meteor streaked through the sky early this morning above the Russian Urals, eventually crashing to the earth with a boom and leaving a lot of broken stuff in its wake, including about 725 people. Luckily very few serious injuries have been reported, but the subsequent shock waves have caused quite a bit of damage to local infrastructure.

Ironic that this meteor hit on the same day that the big asteroid (half the length of a football field) is making it's way past our atmosphere, no? Do you think we'll see a big asteroid hit in our lifetime?

This crap scares me to death!! I can't watch any of that stuff on the history channel. On another note, why does the cool crap always happen in Russia??

You know, I don't know if we'll see one in our lifetime or not. But if so, I don't think there's much we could do about it. So I guess there's no reason to worry myself unnecessarily. Heck, I still remember the whole December End of the World Mayan Calendar fiasco...and I remember thinking, "Well hell...I finally get pregnant again and I'm only going to have a few days with this new kid? That stinks."

Crazy. I think it would be cool to see one, but I'm not holding my breath.

Daffney, I didn't even consider that! I hope it doesn't happen for several years, cause DH and I haven't started prepping yet!
And I'm only half kidding about that. DH really does want to prep, and I like the idea of being mostly self-sufficient so I'm not opposed to it. (I just told him he has to prep for something that realistically could happen, not something like Zombies..)

My sister said that my BIL is becoming a prepper. She said they have over 18 gallons of water so far, and he keeps buying large quantities of dried beans and rice. Oh, and don't forget the guns!

On one hand this stuff is crazy creepy but on the other hand I feel like if it happens, it happens.
