im just wandering whose babies r reacting to sounds at this point? My son had his 4 month appointment the other week n i mentioned how he doesn't react to loud sounds he will react to u when u smile at him and stuff when he sees u in front of him but he doesn't react if he doesn't see you. so we set him up to get his hearing checked (he goes in may) as he is either being stubborn or his hearing really isn't the greatest.

Sometimes, Ellie will jump if someone sneezes across the room, or drops something. Other times, she seems oblivious. I just don't think she's interested at the moment.

Ellie sounds like Arianna - like she only hears when she wants to...

Oh yes, he hears everything! The other day I was burping him up on my shoulder and I burped out loud (had a spicy lunch and nobody was around, lol)...and he was freaked right out! He jumped and started crying because I had really startled him. I felt so bad! I also felt like laughing though, because he was so terrified of a burp, lol.

Ainsley is interested in noises now, especially if I'm trying to get her to sleep. If one of the kids walks by and says something or makes any kind of noise, she wants to turn and see what its about. Glad you're getting his hearing checked out. It may be fine but at least you'll know and won't worry.

lilsuma - did your baby pass a hearing test when they were born? Not sure if it's a standard procedure in Canada. Adam often gets startled by Lucy's (my toddler) noisy play even if he does not see her.
