I'm taking Jack back to Missouri to visit family in June. It's also my dad's 60th birthday, so I'm completely surprising him. My sisters are in on it. He's just going to show up at my older sister's house thinking it's a small birthday celebration for him, and Jack and I will be there. I'm working on getting a customized onesie for Jack to be wearing in honor of my dad's birthday too.
I'm really looking forward to it, but I'm not looking forward to the air travel (three-hour flight) and then car travel (2 1/2-hour drive) by myself with a ten-month-old. It should be a wonderful adventure though.
Other than that, we plan to go to the beach a lot, since Jack really loves it. And we might do a weekend trip to San Diego (which is just a 100-mile drive for us).
We have a few trips planned. In June we are going to go to Sedona, AZ. I have ALWAYS wanted to go and my parents invited us to go with them. We also have a family tradition of going to Catalina Island (it's off the coast of CA) every August. We missed last years for obvious reasons lol but we are going this year.
We don't ever get to go on vacation either, but I'm really hoping for a weekend near Portland to take the girls to the zoo and beach. But we'll see. My mom and sister are supposed to come out for a visit at some point so that kinda turns into a vacation for us too.
We really want to take a trip to Nashville, TN to visit the Opryland Hotel, the Opry Mills Mall and the Mall at Green Hills in May once the kids are out of school for the summer. We would also like to go a little further to McMinnville, TN to visit my grandparents and see the mountains. However, we are trying to figure out how to do that. It's only a 3-hour trip, but Pippa does not like being in the car. We have a hard time just getting home from work with her, and that is only a 30-minute drive. (She doesn't like her new convertible car seat any better than the infant seat.)
