We're thinking about having a first birthday party for Alexandra. Still not positive what we want to do, as this would really be for adults and I feel kind of weird having a one year old's party with adults at it...but I want to celebrate. So, for those of you that are doing something, here are a few questions...

1) What are you going to do (is it just a gathering, are you having some sort of entertainment)?

2) Where are you having it (at home, at a rented hall, at some other location)?

3) What will you have to eat and drink?

4) Who are you inviting (ie. family members, your friends, friends of your LO)?

5) When are you sending out formal invitations?

1) What are you going to do (is it just a gathering, are you having some sort of entertainment)? just a regular party, nothing fancy. We'll do a smash cake. I've heard lots of supermarkets and bakeries do first birthday smash cakes for free!

2) Where are you having it (at home, at a rented hall, at some other location)? home. I'm not willing to shell out that much money for a first birthday party.

3) What will you have to eat and drink? probably lasagna, mac and cheese, fruit platter, veggie platter, stuff like that.

4) Who are you inviting (ie. family members, your friends, friends of your LO)? family members and family friends. I'm unsure about any of our friends or friends of Sean's. Our house isn't all that big so probably just family and close friends.

5) When are you sending out formal invitations? I'm going to take a photo of him in his 1 year outfit at the beginning of September and then send out his invitations a month before his party, so at the end of September.

1) What are you going to do (is it just a gathering, are you having some sort of entertainment)? Pretty informal ... just food/hanging out/gifts/cake.

2) Where are you having it (at home, at a rented hall, at some other location)? Home ... hopefully outside, like a cookout.

3) What will you have to eat and drink? Probably BBQ type food (hamburgers, brats, chips, potato salad, etc)

4) Who are you inviting (ie. family members, your friends, friends of your LO)? Family members and some close friends ... mostly adults, but some kids will be there too

5) When are you sending out formal invitations? I will probably get some from shutterfly or something ... mostly to have one for her baby book.

1) What are you going to do (is it just a gathering, are you having some sort of entertainment)? We invite the grandparents and my brother and SIL over for cake and ice cream in the evening. During the day, we pick an activity that the birthday boy will enjoy and make it a special day for our immediate family. We will probably go to the zoo.

2) Where are you having it (at home, at a rented hall, at some other location)? We will probably do it at our house.

3) What will you have to eat and drink? Cupcakes and ice cream, maybe lemonade.

4) Who are you inviting (ie. family members, your friends, friends of your LO)? Grandparents, my brother and SIL.

5) When are you sending out formal invitations? I'm not sure if I will. If I do, it will be mid-September, after we've made it through my older son's bday, our anniversary, and the start of a new school year!
