Sooo I haven't posted or commented in forever but I am now 6 weeks along with #2!! It's made me think of you all... I can't believe my little girl is 19 months already!

Anyways..... the main reason I'm posting is I'm looking for advice.... I had an awesome home water birth with our daughter. The midwife I used is great but she doesn't take insurance... last time we didn't have any so no big deal. We now have WONDERFUL insurance through hubbys work and need to use it. Hubby is just 6mo into work after a Long time w/o so we are still recovering.

We have no midwives in town ( last time I had to use one 3 hours away) there is a new birth center about 2 & a half hours away that will do a water birth but since my first Labour was only 5 hours start to finish.... and that was Without my water breaking.... I'm not sure about driving that far. But this birth center would accept our insurance and is In-Network!!
What would you do? Am I crazy for considering this?

Anyone with a faster first labor with an even faster second?

Congrats! I would totally look into it because I would love a water birth! lol sadly no one around here does it unless I want to birth at home, which isn't an option for me. Good luck!

Congrats on your pregnancy! Personally, I would not be down with riding in the car for 2.5 hours while I'm in labor. If you really want a water birth you may be able to see your previous midwife and submit your own claims to your insurance company. I've done that before with a chiropractor who didn't accept insurance and my insurance company reimbursed me.

Be careful with baby #2 coming a little faster than baby #1. My crazy sister wanted the same ob for all her babies but lives 2 hours away from ob. She almost had baby 3 in the car on the way there. Baby #2 and Baby #4 were scheduled.

Lots of luck!

Congratulations!

My births didn't get a bunch shorter than each previous birth, but if my first was 5 hours, I'd worry. lol Mine were 16 hours, 12 hours, and 8 hours.

I hope you can get the birth you want, though. HH9M!
