We won't be putting up a tree until after Thanksgiving but after talking to my 3 year old about it I realize that we will have to worry about the tree with a baby in the house! We had to deal with this when my first was a year but at the time we had a tiny tree on a table so it was out of reach. What do people do with a big tree to keep it from being pulled over??

When Claire was that age we just put up the tree and told her not to touch...she never did. She'd walk by it and point and say "no touch." That would never work with these two I still don't know what we're going to do!

We just put it out and keep our babies away just like we do with the computer... lots of "no's" and distracting. I think Elijah is going to be a little more difficult (he doesn't like to get told "no") so we'll probably not have it up very long this year.

Use the presents under the tree to form a barrier That was what worked with dd1. Luyando is more persistent and likes to climb so we may end up with lots of broken presents

Ha! I have no clue but have been wondering the same! She's going to be mesmerized with a tree, I just know it.

I have one of those baby play yards that looks like a giant baby gate so I think we'll put that up around the tree. My aunt ran a day care in her house and it worked great for her! I figure if she can have half a dozen little ones and have this work I can make it work with one!

I just realized this was something I hadn't thought through yet. With Josiah, we only had a table top tree. We will probably put it in it's normal place and just make sure the breakable ornament are up high. I might tie it to the wall...you can loop fishing line around the middle of the tree and then secure it with a screw on the wall, and do the same around the top of the tree, nailing into the ceiling. The spot where we normally put ours is in a corner, which also gives me a little extra advantage, since half the tree cannot be subjected to the one year old's curious little hands!
