I am still giving my LO an 8 oz bottle of milk before bed (she is 14 months old). Our Pediatrician says that milk should only be at mealtimes and to stop the night time feed, and we should be on a sippy cup full time. I do agree with this, because it would probably prevent her from having wet diapers during the night - she usually wakes at least once for a diaper change. What is everyone else doing? For those who don't give milk at bedtime, does your LO sleep thru the night? I guess I am afraid to try this thinking she might be up all night, and I am exhausted as it is.

My LO does drink out of a sippy during the day, but at dinner time she is not interested in milk at all. This is another reason I keep giving it to her at bedtime. I'm not sure how to eliminate the night bottle & still get enough oz of milk in her.

Thanks for the advice!!

What is the harm in letting her have a bottle at times other than meals? Pediatricians don't know everything, and their opinions range greatly. Do what makes your baby emotionally happy and what you feel is best for her. I went through several doctors before I found one that we love.

I co-sleep with Pippa, and she nurses off and on all night, which I love.

I give Cam a mix of water or milk all during the day, no set times or whatever. He also gets a sippy of water beside his crib, which he has a few sips of before bed, and occasionally overnight if he wakes up. Most nights we do a change, but that's because he hates being the slightest bit wet, he really doesn't pee that much at night.

We give 6 oz of milk, our pedi told us to drop the 8oz because milk fills them and they wont eat as much table foods, however when we were giving her 8oz of milk she would wake in the early AM's due to very wet diapers, and not sleep well.
Thank you *Sharon* for the siggy

I nurse Matthew to sleep usually or just before we lay him down in his crib. He won't take cows milk so I'm not much help in that department sorry!

I still nurse Paxton to bed and in the middle of the night. He stays dry all night so I think that just depends on the child. With my other two I gave a bottle of milk at bedtime until 18 months when we took away bottles and attempted to switch to a cup which they never took and instead they started getting water. I don't see anything wrong with giving milk right before bed.

I give Summer 2-3 full sippy cups of coconut milk throughout the day along with a few cups of water. She usually gets 2 cups of milk but once in a while she will get a third. We stopped giving her one right before bed a while back because every morning she would wake up SOAKED. And she still sleeps through the night without it.

I still give Leo his bottle at night.. The milk serving depends on how well he ate his dinner... If he was fussy and didn't eat much I would give him 7 oz... if he ate well I would give him about 4 oz.

I really do want to start sippy cups for his milk... He takes his watered down juice in a sippy cup during lunch and dinner...

I give him milkin a bottle in the morning 7am (5 oz), 10am (4oz), 3pm (4oz), 7:30pm (about 4-7 oz)...

It just works for us at this moment....

Leo's sleep time is 8pm and he sleeps through the night till 6am.

I am still giving Oz an 8oz bottle before bed and yes he has a sopping wet diaper every morning and sometimes has to be changed in the middle of the night.

The thing is, he doesn't eat much at dinner and doesn't drink much milk then either (even though I offer it). He's hungry for a bottle by bed time. I don't think there's much I can do about this until he starts eating more solids, and that could still be a while away. I'm not fussed.

That said, tonight he wouldn't take a bottle but was in a terrible mood (I don't know if it was a teething thing, a super tired thing, or what). I'll let you know tomorrow if he wakes looking for some milk.
