Is this normal? Brayden has not gone more than 2 hours during the day except for one long nap he takes in the afternoon (which is 3-4 hours..although sometimes he'll snack on one boob halfway through that as well). He goes most of the night without nursing and cluster feeds early in the morning 4-7am.
I haven't been able to pump up a good stash of BM for when I go back to work on Monday I'm lucky if I have enough for the 4 hours I go away. (I'm going back 4 hrs a day for the first week, then back to a 40hr work week the second week of July)...I have maybe 10oz in the freezer.
I plan on pumping every 2 hrs at work but its not nearly effective as him nursing. I just can never find a time to pump because he's constantly eating or snacking on the boob!
Arthur nurses every 2 hours at least as well, and he is 10.5 weeks. I don't have much advice for getting a stash, since we suppliment with formula. The first week I went back I told DH not to use anything I pump so we could have a stash, so he had formula half the day and nursed the other half. Now he gives him breastmilk for 2 of the 3 bottles he eats with him. I can only pump every 4-5 hours at work, and I get about 3-4 oz at a time.
Kaylin is 11 weeks and still nurses every 2-3 hours during the day. Have you tried pumping while she's nursing on the other side? For sure when he's cluster feeding in the mornings you could pump on one side while nursing on the other because milk production is usually higher in the morning. Also, try power pumping during his long afternoon nap. Drink about 16 oz of water and then pump for 10 minutes. Drink another glass of water while resting for 10 minutes then pump again for 10 minutes. Try doing this for an hour. It can help your milk production so that when you do go back to work and pump you 'should' be able to get quite a bit.
Same here. I was gonna come on here and post a similar thread.
Georgie is nursing every 1.5-2 hours and this is actually concerning me as I go back to work next week and to be honest, I don't even know how well things will go with me pumping at work. I'm actually starting to freak out about it!
Not much time for me to pump either b/c he is either eating or crying. He is still pretty fussy. Hubby works 70 hours week so he's never here and I feel like I cannot get a minute to do anything really...let alone pump.
I work 12 hour shifts in the ER and I usually don't even take a break to eat. We are always just too busy. I'm wondering how the heck I'm even gonna be able to pump. I've thought about switching to formula but then I'll just feel like a failure.
I feel your pain! I wish I had some advice but I don't know what I'm gonna do either.
My 4 months old still nurses every two hours. I talked to my ped about it and she said not to worry, its completely normal (albeit a little exhausting!). She said some babies just drink less but more often. He started skipping one or two nursing sessions at night so I pump then (I'd rather sleep but it's really effective!).
I'm thinking about setting the alarm and pumping once or twice overnight when he's normally sleeping. I do use my milkie on the one side while I nurse on the other especially in the morning..and I can usually get anywhere from an ounce to an ounce and a half out of the opposite boob as it leaks which isn't a lot but it's something!
Today he went every 2-3 hours so it gave me a little bit of a break and I was able to pump another 2oz to save. Luckilly my boss is understanding and has agreed to let me pump about every 2 hrs depending on how busy we are at the bank.
Jordan is 8 wks today and nursing every hr except once yesterday n once today he gave me a 2 hr randomly. lol Have you considered pumping the side hes not nursing from? its a handful but when i did a lil pumping i got way more milk that way!
