I keep reading lots of you are scheduled for ultrasounds already and soon..
Today when I went for my confirmation, I asked the nurse when mine would be (ish) and she said I only get one, and it'll be between 17-20 weeks or so.

Anyone else just get one?
She mentioned the only time you get one earlier is if there are problems or they need to check on things.

I think all doctors are different. I was going to switch obgyns but I think I'm just going to stick with my current doctor (for now) and she does 2 ultrasounds. Other doctors near me only do 1.

im only getting 1 to confirm pregnancy at 7 weeks because i did fertility treatments, so they dont release your care unless they know you've got a healthy baby (babies) in there

my midwife does an optional 1 around 20 weeks...but one of my dearest friends is an ultrasound tech and owns a 4D place about 2 hours away...we're going there at 17.3

Ok, so it's not abnormal then.
I was hoping for one sooner, just because I'm sorta anxious and it would be exciting to get one.
But, I'd rather have everything healthy and just get the one then

some providers offer an ultrasound around 13 weeks that is called the "nuchal scan", which can check for downs markers with the folds of the neck, but its pretty inaccurate and ive heard a lot of times insurance won't cover that because it's less accurate than the simple blood test they can do at 16w....but you can always ask....im pretty crunchy in general, but ultrasounds are something i probably lack on..i love them! there's some research that states they might be damaging, butttt who knows....

My doctor doesn't do one until 20 weeks unless there are problems. But my BFF works in labor and delivery so she said we could peek anytime

I went into my registration appointment today. I have a scheduled one for a due date check on the 8th but aside from that I was informed that the only one I will have is 20 weeks. I am assuming if anything arises they will do them later on as well. I aim to do a 3D or 4D ultrasound later on which of course we pay for but all the same. I do not know if I can wait until 20 weeks. I already had my blood done as well and was informed I did not have to have it redone until 28 weeks unless something is wrong. I do my glucose tomorrow.

With my first son I had a regular low risk pregnancy and had 5 the second I had over 30. They really are more nerve wracking to have a ton because every time I would worry he was gone. It is really cool to be able to watch them grow each week in the first trimester though.

Its interesting how care is so different in different places. In Ontario, Canada, I got one at 12 weeks (we declined the actual nuchal scanning, but this was also my confirmation u/s), and one at 20 weeks. At 20 weeks, I had partial placenta previa so I got a 3rd one at 32 weeks to make sure it moved up and away.

Be thankful. I know my first pregnancy I got on these boards and was jealous... but then we had ladies whose doctors did U/S's to early and couldn't find heartbeats and such and got the mothers all worried to find out everything was fine. Also had ones who found out the wrong gender bc they had them check to early... it's worth the wait to get the right information if your not high risk

They are just blobs right now anyways. 20 week u/s are so neat to see, and you can watch them move and actually know what ur looking at.

I'm using a midwife this time so I'm not sure when they do ultrasounds. My first appointment is on the 10th.
