I've been on thyroid medication for quite a while now (since just after Patrick was born). Anyway, I've not only noticed that I'm SO tired, but that I'm losing more hair than normal too. So I had a regular thyroid level check last week, and it came back "under replaced." So they're upping my dosage (I would have started tonight, but I walked into the store 5 minutes after the pharmacy closed). Here's hoping I'm a little more myself afterward!

I can sympathize as well Before pregnancy I was on 62.5mcg of synthroid, now I have gone to 75mcg, then up to 100mcg over the course of the last 4 weeks. And my dr says that it will have to go up again more than likely
Make sure you stay on top of it and they test you at least once during each trimester. I was given quite a lot of information on the dangers of not taking the medicine correctly during pregnancy, and it is pretty scary

Pregnancy stresses the thyroid so you usually need a tad more medicine. I am having my levels tested next week with my regular RE bloodwork to make sure its as close to 1 as possible, as that is where I feel the best. I've been VERY tired lately and I don't know if its from pregnancy or thyroid.

hum? One year ago my RE tested my Thyroid and I was boarder line Hypo. He said we would just keep an eye on it. I haven't had any more thyroid testing since. Should I ask for it at my next blood draw on Friday do you think?

If you just had IVF -- your RE should have tested for it with this current cycle before cycling in.

Is Checking it for everyone pregnant a normal protocol? So I can assume it will be checked along the way?

Brittanie - I hope you feel better fast!

I do not think it is normal protocol. I think that if the Dr sees any possible symptoms or you had issues prior to pregnancy, then they check it. If you are concerned, I would suggest calling your Dr and asking if they did/will be monitoring it. It never hurts to ask

Yeah, my Dr. wants me tested every 2 months, actually. I was at 100mcg all through my pregnancy with Allison, and then after she was born, it was first lowered to 88mcg, and then turned right around and upped it back to 100 and then straight to 125 (instead of doing a step in between? I can't remember what that number was, probably 112 or something). So we're upping me to 137, and checking again in 6-8 weeks.

Generally before IVF its protocol to check TSH. Thyroid issues can cause miscarriage. I've always had my thyroid checked before a cycle.

In a normal pregnant women with no history of thyroid issues, it is not normal protocol.

I emailed my RE, and he wants me to step it up to 75mcg. We will test Tuesday and make sure we are not over medicating.

I will probably ask my OB about it tomorrow as hypothryoidism runs in my family (mother and grandmother both have it).

I have hypothyroid too, I doooo understand. If I don't take my meds I'm a zombie and I feel so so tired and I've just got no drive at all. Glad you figured it out though! I need to have my levels checked again.
