Well,

Had my 2nd appt. Started with doing the 1 hour glucose because I had gd with my son. I failed miserably....they said if it was 200+ I wouldn't even have to do the 3 hour, and it came back at 199. So the only good part is not doing the 3 hour. She wasn't able to pick up heartbeat on doppler, so brought out portable ultrasound machine. I saw and felt a nice little kick, which was cool. I already had an appt with a higher risk Dr. for next week, so will just wait til then for a game plan. I feel a little less pressure regarding a vbac...and feeling more comfortable with a repeat c-section if needed. Also no weight gain so far! Woo hoo!

Sorry about the GD. I don't look forward to my test. I was borderline last pregnancy and had to follow a loose GD diet, but track my sugars. I can't imagine having to do that from this early on! Kudos to you, mama, for your sacrifices!!! Glad you both are doing well!

Have you ever heard of the Dr. Brewer pregnacny diet? It's what I teach my CBE/Doula mommas and what I (try) to follow myself. It's got something like a 85% rate of mommas not having GD, and it pretty much follows the GD diet anyway - the main goal is to get 80-100g of protein a day (I personally shoot for about 75-85g because I grow big babies in general)

The Brewer Pregnancy Diet

Sorry about the GD. I have been avoiding my 1 hour test.

It is good you are at peace with the repeat c-section if needed but I really hope you can get your VBAC.

There are a couple of factors that send people in for them early. My sister had to do hers at 15 weeks due to her "advanced maternal age". Also, if you've had it in a previous pregnancy, they often do one. They suggested that I do one early with my pregnancies because I've been treated for insulin resistance in the past, which increases my risk, I guess. I've refused each time and I'm considering declining the big one this time. Guess it'll depend on the consequences. I'm feeling rebellious.

Yea my Dr office checks early if you've had previous pregnancy's with GD, patients with BMI over 40, strong family history of diabetes, or a history of impaired fasting glucose or impaired glucose tolerance. I have PCOS and take metformin for slight insulin resistance. If i pass on monday I can stop taking the metformin woo hoo!

Sorry you didn't pass.

I am going to do it, I don't want to do it but my aunt advised me that my mother had GD with me. So it might be wise just to make sure.
