Is anyone at risk for preterm birth?

I am b/c of my last one I had was born at 31 weeks... since I have diabetes 2 then I am at risk for placenta problems and preeclampsia again. Hoping we can make it to at least 27 weeks with no complications but we will see since I started to have problems around 24 weeks with my last. That is in 4 weeks.. crazy!

I had my first baby full term but that was 15 years ago. I feel at risk now because of twins. Hoping I can keep these babies in there as long as possible and avoid NICU...

Good luck to you too for a full term baby!

I am, supposedly, but only because I'm having twins. My other two kids were born full-term (37 weeks and 39 weeks). I had pre-eclampsia with my first also, but not with my second. Hoping to avoid it again.

I am.

I went into PTL at 32w5d with my 1st but they stopped it with procardia (which promptly bottomed my already low BP). I can't take 17P because of progesterone allergy dermatitis. They are just monitoring me closely. My cervix measurement was great and I am not funneled (I was funneled with my 1st at 20 weeks) so right now its just a wait and see game. I started having issues begin around 28 weeks with my first so that is the magic mark.

I am being watched closely because I feel a lot of pressure and started cramping. My cervix looked great yesterday (a little more than 5) and my fFN was negative. Of course today I can't keep anything down and am having cramps so bad I could have sworn I was in early labor but because the fFN was negative I have just kept my tush parked on the couch with my feet up rather than bother the doctor.

I had tons of issues with PTL and long-ish term hospitilization with my first. Luckily, he wasn't born too early at 35 weeks.

We were positive I would have the same issues with my second, but get what? No PTL whatsoever. I was actually induced at past 40 weeks, so you never know what will happen.

I am thinking I will go full-term with this one.

I am. Preterm birth with my first at 23 weeks. I am taking 17-P weekly and seeing the midwife weekly to discuss anything that might be going on. They are watching me closely. My cervical measurements thus far have been great though and I got checked internally about 2 weeks ago and was closed up tight.

Hi! I just happen to be popping in from the High Risk Board, my son is 3 now (eek!) but I was also at risk for a pre-term birth due to Type 2 diabetes. My second pregnancy my diabetes was so bad my pancreas stopped functioning (it's fine now) and I had high blood pressure too, plus a few other things, so we were preparing for an early birth. Instead I went all the way to 37 weeks! And I was induced! So get ready to go early, but don't be surprised if your baby surprises you!

I am. My first was born at 34 weeks for no apparent reason. My second stayed in to 36 weeks thanks to hydroxy progesterone. I am again on weekly shots. I am hoping it works as well this time as it did with my son!

Since May. My thyroid has worked and not worked over the past 5 years. The endo ran the test in May and it was positive. He was not really expecting it to be positive since I am a fairly thin person. Go figure.

i am told that I am at a slightly higher risk due to the Trisomy 21. It can cause the placenta to age ahead of time causing some issues including pre term labor and birth. I had PTL with my last two at 29 and 32 weeks that was short lived and stopped in the hospital. Not sure what to expect this time around.....
