I'm so sorry to be gone for so long, but there was a point I thought our journey was over...

So I started this new 3rd shift job June 14th & it was amazing. However, after my second night of work, I awoke (Father's Day) to blood everywhere & when I went to the loo, I had passed a rather large clot.... I'm sure many can just imagine the sheer panic I was in especially since I wasn't feeling the baby moving either. What made matters worse was that the hubby was already at work & I wasn't able to contact him, which meant I had to drive myself to the hospital. Not a lot scares me, but I can tell you I was BEYOND scared!!!! Anyway, I get to the ER, a 45 min. drive away, & they quickly do an ultrasound... I was SHOCKED!!! The baby was absolutely fine! As if I didn't cry enough driving to the hospital, I AGAIN cried hysterically.... just tears of joy this time. They had stated that my placenta had a tear & that's what was causing the bleeding. At that point, they weren't sure if we'd miscarry or not, but I was told to take it extremely easy & not do anything but rest. After 6 weeks of varying amounts of bleeding, countless trips to the OB, numerous ultrasounds, & several trips to the ER every time the bleeding got heavy, the bleeding FINALLY stopped a few weeks ago.

At our 20th week ultrasound, while we were still bleeding, we had our Level 2 ultrasound & per my request, just in case the worst happened, we found out the gender.... a BOY!!! We couldn't be happier!!!

So here we are & STILL pregnant... YAY!!!! & now that we're 24 weeks, we're considered in the 'safe zone' just in case delivery happens.

YAY!!! I was wondering where you went off to. I can't imagine the panic through all of that, but for viability! What a wonderful relief!

Are you still on pretty sound bedrest, or are you able to move around/work a bit more? Every day that baby stays baking is another day where he's not in NICU and given a fighting chance How often are your appointments now that the bleeding's stopped?

on team blue! Holy cow... this DDC has a lot of testosterone in it!

This is the first time I had every experienced anything like that & even though I've been through preeclampsia & PTL, I was NEVER that scared.

My OB lifted the strict bedrest 2 weeks ago - conditional, as long as the bleeding has stopped, but still not allowed to walk around very long or stand for long periods. My appointments since all of this started have been every 2 weeks at the high risk OB clinic and ultrasounds/ consults every 4 weeks with maternal/fetal medicine.

I know about those scares. I didn't have any long term bleeding but just the sight of it is frightening. Welcome back and congrats on your healthy growing baby boy!!

Oh my goodness, so glad all is well now! This sounds similar to what I've been going through and I can totally relate with being SCARED to death. I'll be 24 weeks on Friday and it will be a HUGE milestone! Glad your bleeding has stopped and praying it is permanent and your sweet baby boy grows nice and healthy!!

Welcome back! I can only imagine how scared you were. Around 14 weeks I had bleeding off and on for over a week and remember crying the whole way to the hospital only to find baby was fine! Mine resolved with pelvic rest. I am so glad things are looking up for you now and congrats on your boy!
