My hospital gives the parents a steak and lobster dinner the night before you are discharged. My husband comes in and we dine in the room lol it's so funny to me. But the food is actually amazing! Who knew lol

The two hospitals I've delivered in gave us a free meal after delivery, but it was never steak and lobster. It was just whatever we wanted off the regular menu (I had buffalo chili and cornbread with Allison)

I get to choose off the menu, breakfast, lunch, dinner... but no steak and lobster! What a great benefit

The hospital I had my son at sucked. Typical nasty hospital food. I had people bring me fast food instead.

Now the hospital I had my daughter at, and where I'll be having the twins...OMG...their food is awesome. They actually call it "room service" and you can ring them up any time of the day and order anything off the menu. You also get to choose during your stay to have either a "celebration dinner" (fancy dinner - you pick from a few different choices - steak, fish, etc.) or, if you'd rather make it a family affair they'll spring for a big pizza party for the family. Now they've added in another perk...you get to choose one spa treatment, either a massage or manicure. I told my husband I should I ask for two since I'm having two babies..LOL. This hospital is awesome.

The hospital I'll deliver at used to do steak dinner after the birth but did away with it a few years ago. Now it's their regular crappy food. No thanks.

The hospital I had my son at in NY was awesome. If you neglected to order a meal by a certain hour, they called and reminded you to order something. The menu was pretty good too. So was the food! I was able to order whatever I wanted. (No lobster or steak)

I have delivered all of my babies at the same hospital, and most of the births I have had some of the same nurses, so it's like visiting friends... The nurses are super nice to us and will sneak us perks and when we leave, they give us a bunch of supplies to take jammed into my take home bag....
My hospital used to have a celebratory dinner offered for the parents. It included a meal of your choice (steak, chicken or fish) and it offered a bottle of wine as well. They stopped doing that after my birth in 2005. Now it is just off the menu stuff and the food is actually pretty good. Last time when my youngest was born, DH and I lived off the cheesecake! We are huge cheesecake fans and usually will drive to NYC to Carnegie Deli to get a piece of cheesecake...a 4 hour drive...lol

The place we will deliver says they offer "Chef Prepared" meals for mothers and partners. I am not yet sure what that entitles, but it sounds better than the usual crappiness.

Our food is pretty awful. Breakfast is usually pretty good, lunch is iffy and dinner is nasty. The last few times, I've just had them bring me a drink, roll, and dessert for dinner and then send my dh out for food.

The hospital I'm delivering at doesn't do that but they do have 24 hr room service that you can order whatever whenever and its really good. They are remodeling right now, phase 1 should be done the end of this month. Then they will close down the old half and remodel it for phase 2. So I'll be in the new area, I'm excited to see what changes they bring!
