I knew from the beginning if I had a shower I wanted a tea party and I just KNEW I was having a girl (WRONG) so it was settled. Once the unltrasound revealed a boy I thought I would have to scrap that idea and then I realized a Mad Hatter themed shower would be unique, adorable, and totally me

Have you decided on a theme yet?

Love that idea! super cute...

Mine was a bear theme with DD1 (my only real shower). It was such because I have this connection with bears and me and my grandmother, who passed before I got preggo, so it had special meaning. We had beeswax candles in the shapes of bears with the beehives for gifts, along with honey and cute other bear things that relate to where we are (mountains, surrounded by bears). It was fun!

The nursery isn't decorated as a usual nursery, but has about 7 or 8 8x10 photos of bears matted and framed, with a bear (cartoonish, with other animals, too) border... so the theme still sticks

I love that idea! I saw some invitations I loved online that had crowns on them, so I'm thinking a prince/princess theme.

I have no clue whats being planned. They like to surprise me, since they can't surprise me with a shower.

I haven't actually thought about a theme. My friends at church mentioned having a coed shower and they want to do one for me at work too. All of my family is out of town and they keep asking when I'm having one. It is starting to overwhelm me because I am not good at asking others to set a date. I don't have anyone willing to step up and take it on and I don't think it's appropriate to plan my own, what do you think?

Honestly, I just wish they would order stuff and have it delivered to the house, is that terrible or what?!?

They won't organize it for you? It's not that much work! If they mention it again, tell them you'd love for someone to set it up for around the 32 week mark, but that you would feel odd planning your own shower (I would too) and so if it came to you planning it, well... too bad.

OR...

You could do a "meet the baby" shower/coed bbq/party type of thing, after baby's born, but it would be near the holidays and you may have already had holiday celebrations where they officially met baby already. Any other time of year, it works great!

I'd just put the pressure back on them. Sure, you'd love a coed shower, but you aren't setting it up

With Elizabeth everything was just pink. Then with Flynn we had a lot of blue baby stuff and his cake and invites were rocket ship.

Not planning anything this go 'round except maybe a Welcome Baby party in which case everything will either just be pink or blue.

I know! It is so annoying! My family said they might just have one for me in Illinois (without me) and then my mom will drive everything down when she comes. I'm ok with that I guess.

Locally my friends are SO sweet, just very busy and they're all pretty spontaneous. Drives me nuts because I'm a planner and like to know what will happen and when. Next time someone asks I think I'll have to be more direct (so hard for me) and say let's go ahead and set a date so we can get invites out. Oh my, I just realized that I'll be 32 weeks in seven weeks!!! It's going so FAST!
