Besides all the cleaning stuff, I've got some of the small things going...

Like, I just bought a bunch of dates to eat to help with labor down the road. I think the study said to eat 6 dates a day for 4 weeks to help shorten time of cervix ripening/dilation, so I'll start this on friday, at 34 weeks!

And... I'm going to buy EPO (I didn't see any at our WalMart) when I'm in town again, starting that orally on Friday, too!

AND... I packed my toiletries, so I've got that! (and that's ALL I have packed )

Yum, I love dates! They're especially good stuffed with bleu cheese and wrapped in bacon, although I'll have to wait until after delivery to enjoy bleu cheese again! Hooray for starting to get ready!

Ooh dates! I think I'll get some of those, too. I got my EPO from Kroger on a bogo free sale.

Uh oh. Is blue cheese not ok to eat? I had some the other night. I did ask if it was pasteurized and they said it was. Should I have not eaten it?

I've heard conflicting reports about bleu cheese. I've heard that any cheese is fine as long as it's pasteurized and then I've heard to avoid all veined cheeses. I'm sure you're fine, I've just been erring on the side of caution.

I was planning on looking for some dates next grocery trip, too. I'll be 36 weeks by then. Are they packaged like raisins? I've never seen them in the store before. Hmm...

Some stores carry them in the produce department or near the dried fruit.

ETA they don't have to be refrigerated. They are dried so they keep fine outside of refrigeration like raisins or prunes. I find that they are too hard when refrigerated. I would keep them in a well sealed container so they stay on the soft side.

I found mine (pricey!) at Walmart in the apple sauce/prune/canned fruit aisle. They were packaged in a pouch/bag, like prunes or raisins or craisins are in. I didn't read if I had to refrigerate them, and I think the fact that they weren't refrigerated in the store and are packaged in zipper pouches means I may not have to. Anyway, I'll try some tomorrow! I've never had a date before...

They're fruit, kinda like prunes, I think. I dunno, but everything I've heard says they are supposed to be yummy, so I'll give them a shot!

Prunes, on the other hand, I loooove prunes! I can eat those like candy!

****! I'm bummed about the blue cheese! I thought it was ok as long as it was pasteurized.

^ oops! I didn't know I couldn't use the word "d*mn" on here??!!

I just ate 2 dates... no more date-virgin for me! They weren't bad. I'd not spend the money in any other circumstance, but for this, it's worth it.

Interesting discussion I had with my midwife last appointment about using sex to get labor. She doesn't like it! Thinks it "muddies the waters" and equates it with having your membranes stripped. Her issue is people getting tired of being pregnant and trying to get things started before their body is ready. If you FEEL like making love, she's all for it! But to do it for labor and then getting bloody show and such, same "muddies the waters" comment about really knowing what's happening.

She is all for supplements and dates and such that support and prepare your body and organs for birth, but *usually* these things are going to help you when you labor and NOT get it going sooner.
