At our first check-up the doc mentioned we might want to have Whit checked by a neurologist out for that droopy side to be sure there was nothing else going on. Then again, he also said the pore above the ear is an "abnormality", when both my husband and oldest son have that, too. Looking forward to seeing MY doc next time, but still a little freaked out! In the hospital they said the droopy thing was no biggie.

How has it gone for you?

And I do wonder if he has trouble latching on my right breast because of his droopy side?

I think you are too kind. Kind people give the people around them a hard time. You can't express yourself honestly, because you are worried about hurting other people's feelings, and that makes you miserable.~"Winter Sonata"

Koby's isn't super noticeable unless he's crying. We've been told that it's a partial absence of a "depressor nerve" or "asymmetrical crying face." We were not told to see anyone else, just that it was fairly common and we shouldn't be concerned. I hope this is the case. I will bring it up again at his next appt just to be safe though.

Do they think it's just a nerve that went numb from prolonged pressure in the womb or birth?

I was told it's either an absent muscle, i.e. missing, or lazy muscle that could correct itself.

They mentioned a name of a muscle but I can't remember what it was. We have it written down in his records. It started with an O.

So I guess I am a little concerned. It was mentioned, and I hafta wonder if it was for a reason. I feel like Whit's reflexes are quite slow... Or am I just not remembering what infants are like well? Still looking forward to seeing OUR doc.

Okay, tired of me yet? LOL! Today has gone much better! Whit is simulating nursing sucking in his sleep and jumping a bit at noise. He's also awake more and ferociously nursing! YEAH! I wonder if the spinal tap had anything to do with how out he's been? Could it really last, like, ten days?

I may be talking to myself, but Whit was awake almost all.day. today! Totally different baby~really crying for needs met, sucking furiously at the breast. YAY! Definitely think there is something to that spinal tap, because I've never experienced this before.

I'm so glad that he had improved. We are all battling colds in my house so we have just been laying low. Not getting too much sleep but hopefully that will resolve soon.
