I'm pretty sure I have a clogged duct. The pain is at the side on top of my boob, only on one side. It is extremely painful. I tried to pump but I couldn't because it hurt so badly . I've also tried hot water and a hot shower, nothing is working. I think I am going to go to the clinic tonight to try and get something for it , but does anyone have suggestions with how to cope until then?

Ugh...not fun! {{hugs}} I had recurring plugged ducts/mastitis with my last BF child. This worked for me:

Try getting up on all fours over your baby and dangle feed. I'm sorry it hurts, but nursing as much as you can is really what will help clear it the best. ((hugs))

(((((Samantha))))) Another thing you can do is fully submerge the breast in water as hot as you can stand and manually express by massaging from base to nip every two hours. The plug will come out in a string rather than dissipate, kinda like a pimple.

I think you are too kind. Kind people give the people around them a hard time. You can't express yourself honestly, because you are worried about hurting other people's feelings, and that makes you miserable.~"Winter Sonata"

You NEED to be nursing that side EVERYTIME. You gotta get that clogged duct worked out or your infection won't go away. I had one recently and I was almost screaming each time he nursed.
