I have 2 indoor cats that I've had since kittens. Last time I was pregnant the nurse yelled at me for cleaning the litter box and sent me for blood work...which was fine. The nurse freaked me out and I had my husband scoop the box...with my constant reminders and nagging..lol now im pregnant with #2....I'm not in the mood to nag or remind him again. I've done some research and I come to the conclusion as long as I don't lick my hands after I clean the box the chances r slim to none I could get toxoplasma. It's only transmitted orally IF the cat is infected. Which mine don't go outside and eat deseased animals to contract it. Has anyone had issues from cleaning their cat litter box while pregnant?

I know what you mean. I hate nagging my husband about it. It's easier if I just do it myself. Honestly, from what I've read, it's nearly impossible to contract it if your cats do not go outside and if the litter is changed frequently. Now, I still try to get my DH to do it, but there are times, it's not worth the nagging.

Toxoplasmosis is no joking matter but it is really quite rare to contract it from kitty litter. I make my DH do it ... mostly because I don't want to do it

I know it's no joke if you were to contract it. However...it seems to happen more often from uncooked meat. I just don't want to be paranoid if the chances r slim to none. I would worry if my cats were outdoors...and we're sickly. If they did have it...it sheds out if their system in 3 weeks then they have the immunity. I just wanted to know if anyone has had or heard of real stories of pregnant ladies contracting toxoplasmosis. Cause I've never heard one!!!
