Are any detoxing recipes safe while pregnant? I have never done anything detoxing, but we keep getting sick and I feel like it would help us to just feel better.

These are the ingrediants in the bath recipe I saw
-2 cups of Epsom salt (and
add in another cup for every
50 pounds you are over 100
pounds)
-2 cups of baking soda
-1/3 cup of ground ginger
-Your choice of mint, herbs,
or essential oils

This particular one is made to make you sweat, so I thought this one may not be best, but maybe there is one that I could do.

I'm not sure, but I did that one before, and it really did make me sweat. I used freshly grated ginger though, and it started to feel icky and chunky in the tub, lol. Hope you feel better soon!

I think it would be safe under a couple conditions.

First, I know we aren't supposed to be going into hot tubs over a certain temp or for more than a certain time. I can't remember the temp or time right now, though. So be sure you know how hot and how long you can sit in it so your core temp doesn't get too high.

Second, we need to stay hydrated. So be sure to have a nice glass of water handy if you're going to be sweating.

The bath sounds lovely. If you do it, keep us posted to let us know how it worked!

I think I am going to give it a try tomorrow during nap or tonight after he goes to bed. But he took a late nap today so its more likely tomorrow. There is no way I can stay in for 45 minutes though. Unfortunately our water isn't hot enough here so I am not worried about that. I already fill the tub with only hot water and it doesn't stay hot enough for a long bath. But I will add the stuff and see how it does.

And yes definitely have my water close by

I personally wouldn't do this without talking to my doctor first. My hubby uses Epsom salt after intense workouts in the bath. However, the box of salt said pregnant women and small children should not use without the advice of a medical professional. Same thing about hot water -- there are warnings for hot tubs, jacuzzis and saunas that prohibit pregnant women from using them for a reason. My doc said no hot baths, especially in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.
