Contractions keep trying to start up. They're in my tummy and back, enough to make me stop what I'm doing, and they'll be 15 minutes apart for an hour or so then slack off.
I really have an urge to walk but when I go outside the neighbor's dogs are an issue. The neighbors across the street have a pack of dogs who charge us when we check the mail, and have been getting more brave/coming into our yard to growl and bark at us. The neighbor across my driveway has a sweet but huge dog that likes to jump on me - this dog is almost as tall as my 6'5" husband when he rears up and has a barrel-type body - he's bruised me before and I'm terrified of being knocked down (likely due to my lack of balance and the hills here).
I could wait for DH to come home so he can guard me with a shovel (too heavy for me to carry), but that's still hours away! What can I do while I'm waiting? I've been wondering if my recumbent exercise bike would do the same thing? Our home is too small for me to try to walk around in :\
Is there no leash law there??? I would call animal control, I love animals, but I also value my own safety and it sounds like safety is a concern with those dogs running wild and free. Do you have a back yard you could putter around in? Good luck!!
I'm in a very rural area (closest mall is 2.5 hours away, sadly!) and I have no car, so I'm stuck with anything at home. I was in the back and side yard to avoid the mean dogs (one being a rottie/pitt mix) when the big dog came running to me.
We really do need to call animal control over the dogs across the street, but are a bit worried about retaliation from those neighbors because they're a bit off anyway. They're the type of people who start up dirt bikes at midnight to ride in circles in front of our home. Our mailbox is on their side of the street (we only check it from the car, now, and my husband takes garbage down to the side of the road in his car too). I may try to waddle around the side yard again and just pick up some walnut shells to throw in the general direction of the big dog if he comes around. He would be such a "good" dog if the guy who has him had just spent a little time training him not to jump and not to take stuff off of people's porches (he stole a 30 pound bag of salt off my mother-in-law's porch like it wasn't anything, and one of our chair cushions).
I would seriously be calling animal control or the police to report them. What are you going to do once little man is here? You shouldn't be forced to keep him inside 24/7 in fear of the neighbors' dogs. If you want to walk around or take your son outside you should be able to darn it! Fx for you mama!
Ah man, what a pickle! I agree with the ladies above - something needs to be done. It's really not fair for you to restrict yourself from fresh air because of these neighbors. And like Tammy said, what about when little man gets here? Grrr, I'm mad for you. I completely understand worrying about retaliation. We try not to poop where we eat/sleep as the expression goes, but man... Guessing they're not the type to have a grown-up conversation with? Maybe DH could brave walking by the dogs to knock on their door and talk about this (and let them know that y'all don't want to, but for the well being of your own family you might need to call authorities/animal control). I'm sorry about this!
Well I like Gray_baby's suggestion for the meantime. Exercise balls are great! If you have one doing hip rotations have really helped me with aches & pains. They're also great to lean on when on all fours...there are lots of videos. Good luck, mama.
I don't have an exercise ball, but got a nice walk in after DH got home! Man, I couldn't move after it either, and we weren't even out long.
Yeah, these really aren't people you can talk to or deal with. Before they had as many dogs as they do now DH asked one of them about the pitt/rottie mix and was told that the dog wasn't theirs. Yeah. They had 2 at the time, and now they have 5. As for when Zachary gets old enough to play outside, I'm hoping we've moved by then. It's usually peaceful out here and there's great wildlife and all, but we're so flippin' far away from everything and being surrounded by woods increases the chances of little Z coming across snakes. /shudder I'm already worrying about things years ahead haha
Yeah I would call animal control. that is not fair to anyone and your neighbors need to learn how rude and inconsiderate they are by just letting their dogs run loose. The only way they will learn that it is wrong it for the city to tell them. I would just pace inside. Or if you don't have a ball bounce on the couch. I give you it is not as good... but still works.
