Isabell Grace has arrived! One eleven am on the fifth. I did not need to be induced chemically but my midwife told me to use the breast pump, five minutes n and five off. So, I did. I also sat on the exercise ball doing the spinning babies routine to get her engaged in my pelvis. So, my routine looked like this:

Right breast, rotating right five minutes
No pump, bounce for five minutes
Left breast, rotate left for five minutes
No pump, bounce for five minutes.

It sent me into completely active labor within the hour, I arrived at the hospital at seven CM, laboured for one hour in the tub and then started pushing. That was a bit of an ordeal that went on for two hours.

Baby was stuck at the shoulders and my midwife had to go in and do a maneuver to get her out, DH saw and said that part was pretty nasty. I had to have stitches up and down and it took forever! Let me tell you, I wish I'd had an epidural for that part! While they sewed me they put her on the scale... Nine pounds eleven ounces, 22 inches long, and a 35 CM head. So, that explains the tearing! I'm ok with it because to get her out if me, there either had to be natural tearing or the episiotomy.

I'm going to write a whole birth story when I get home... They kept me at the hospital but I am going home when DH comes to get me around eleven this morning. DH was a champ through everything!

Wow congratulations!! Great birth story! I'm glad you didn't need the induction - and kind of wishing I had a breast pump already now. That sucks about the tearing - I hope they at least gave you a local anesthetic for the. Stitches. It's probably pretty. Hard not to tear with a baby that size. So congrats on birthing your big baby drug-free! You rock, mama!

Congrats! Glad you didn't have to be induced especially after your water breaking on its own. That is one big girl, and no epidural! Wow!! Way to go!

Aww, congrats!! I can't wait to read your birth story & see pictures of your chunky girl! I ADORE chubby babies!! Did you give birth in the tub or just labored there? I'm sorry you tore, I remember when having my Eden (who was 9lbs 1.5oz, so not quite as big as your sweetie) I BEGGED for more numbing when they stitched me, lol. I think it's really hard not to tear if baby is in a strange position, especially so if baby is big. I hope you heal up very quickly! I'm so glad the natural measures you took worked so well in progressing your labor, it's really amazing what our bodies can do!

Congratulations, Mommy & Isabell! I'm definitely gonna try your routine on the ball & w/ the pump before my induction. So glad it all worked out for you! Sorry about the stitches, though...that sounds so painful! But you made it through everything beautifully it seems. Good for you, mama!
